Northern Parliament - A faction based on the Red Army Fleet (USSR Navy) during World War II. They are allied with Azur Lane, but hold a bit of aloofness. Mainly allied with the Dragon Empery. The Northern Parliament was built upon collectivistic ideals, the source of her peoples' strength and solidarity. Sakura Empire - A faction based on the Japanese Imperial Navy during World War II. One of the core members of Crimson Axis. Now part of Azur Lane again. Sardegna Empire - A faction based on the Regia Marina during World War II. One of the core members of Crimson Axis. Now part of Azur Lane again. Iris Orthodoxy - A faction based on the French Navy during World War II. They are part of Azur Lane, but a separate faction, Vichya Dominion, was a member of the Crimson Axis. Now a united faction again, no longer split into Iris Libre and Vichya Dominion. Kingdom of Tulipa - A faction based on the Royal Netherlands Navy during World War II. They are nominally part of Azur Lane. Eagle Union - A faction based on the US Navy during World War II. They are the major nations in Azur Lane. Royal Navy - A faction based on the British Royal Navy and its domains during World War II. They are the major nations in Azur Lane. This nation includes ships from associated Commonwealth navies, like the HMAS Vampire and HMNZS Achilles. Dragon Empery - A faction based on the Republic of China Navy during World War II and the People's Liberation Army Navy from the 1950s. Mainly allied with the Northern Parliament. As the name suggests, the nation's symbol is a Chinese dragon. Ashes - A faction of META shipgirls from other timelines that were destroyed by the Sirens. Every member of the Ashes is a META, but not every META is a member of the Ashes. Their main motive is to destroy the Sirens, no matter what the outcome. Leviathans and X are beings from another dimension that attacked humanity in a different timeline. To the KAN-SEN. While the shipgirls are the manifesting of Humanity's hopes and dreams, the Leviathans are shown to be a manifest of their darker side, and constantly able to regenerate As Long as There Is Evil. A notable aversion as the story progresses. Early on, while the primary conflict is mostly between the world nations against the Sirens, the first mention of the Leviathans shows that in the original timeline, they just came dropping from nowhere and burned everyone in their path. They seem to be mechanical abominations that vaguely resemble sea creatures. Sirens come from a future where the world was destroyed by an unknown enemy. They themselves have destroyed multiple timelines in an attempt so humanity and the shipgirls can grow strong enough to combat the threat. "Antiochus" is Anti-X, with the unknown enemy simply called X. Antiochus (ANTI-X): A title often mentioned by the Ashes. METAmorphosis is a process of change in the Wisdom Cubes of the shipgirls, these changes affect them on a fundamental level, which can affect changes in personality, mental state and appearance. These changes can be reversed at early stages, but after crossing a certain threshold this becomes impossible. At the same time, the conditions that can start METAmorphosis can be completely different. If METAmorphosis is allowed to progress unimpeded, a subject's Wisdom Cube will ultimately turn into an Origin Cube.
