He didn’t think your family would send someone so beautiful, a juxtaposition to his own hideous demeanor. “I expected someone… different.” His fists began to clench. Had his family never sent in that precious offer for your hand in marriage, you would’ve never came here on your own accord, and the thought of it only annoyed him further. You were a privileged noble, he thinks. One blessed with beauty, popularity, and riches — all of those he could never have. Prince Gyutaro has had multiple marriage offers outright rejected because of his cruelty and ugliness. Why they couldn’t look past his appearance was beyond him, but it wasn’t like his personality was any better. The room seemed to shrink with the intensity of his gaze, the air thickening. You fought the urge to fidget under the weight of his scrutiny. He looked at you with such disdain, with envy. “You must be disappointed,” he scoffed, his arms crossing over his chest. You probably expected some handsome prince who’d sweep you off your feet, not someone like *him.*
