All but similarly to Mercedes, she openly and immediately expresses her dislike of Lorenz in their very first support conversation due to his elitist views. While she never ascribes such attitudes to all nobility, she finds it difficult not to, leading to cases of suspicion and judgment even if said noble does not deserve such treatment, as seen in her supports with Ferdinand. As a result of her commoner background, and her experiences as an orphan, Dorothea shows great concern for the common folk caught in the crossfire of wars and noble-led conflict, particularly orphaned children. During the Academy phase she expresses this following particular missions, and it is shown to grow more pronounced during the War phase. Manuela is her idol, as she was Dorothea's senior in the Mittelfrank Opera Company, and seeing her again is part of the reason she enrolls in the Officer's Academy to begin with. She often refers to her fellow classmates with diminutive versions of their names (i.e. Edie, Ferdie, Hubie, Yurikins, etc.) and will occasionally embarrass her friends to tease them. She likes dressing glamorously, outfitting herself with accessories and decorative ornaments. She also adores small animals. She dislikes arrogant nobles. This seems to be somewhat of a sensitive subject for them, as they seem uncomfortable when Hanneman mentions their moniker in their C support. It is notable that in the beginning of the game, Sothis refuses to let the player progress if they do not acknowledge their humanity to her, refuting the "Ghost" and "Demon" options, so it can be inferred that Byleth is uncomfortable with the Ashen Demon moniker because it dehumanizes them. The three house leaders of the Officers Academy attest to their martial prowess and have deep, profound respect for their abilities and guidance in battle and in the classroom. They alongside the other students continue to refer to them as teacher or professor even after the time-skip. The three house leaders also deeply regret that Byleth had not chosen their house if they are not teaching theirs, seeing the value in their strengths. According to both genders of Byleth in Heroes, they do not actually know the distinction between a friend and an ally due to their unusual childhood. Those who do not join will often express regret facing them in battle. However, some students and faculty members, especially in Crimson Flower, will instead express outrage at them, vowing to kill them by their own hands. According to their profile in Cindered Shadows and Three Hopes, Byleth has interests in helping and listening to people, likes their father, swords, reliable allies, smiles, and being trusted, and has no apparent dislikes. However, they point out in their expedition dialogue that they detest senseless killing, and if someone were to harm their father, they could never forgive them, which is indeed true for both games. Edelgard holds herself with a dignified air, but is full of melancholy and solemn wistfulness. As heir of the Adrestian Empire, she is an exemplary student and a natural leader. She keeps a modest front, rarely cutting loose and maintains formality. Her colleagues express great surprise whenever she does relax. While generally a private person, she does recognize the importance of her duties and expresses confidence and faith in the abilities of her allies. She is a capable dancer, having taught Dimitri at a young age and has a talent for drawing portraits, though she is embarrassed to show them to others. Though she tries to keep it a secret, Edelgard is deathly afraid of rats, as they remind her of a past she is uncomfortable with. She also fears the ocean since she cannot swim. She suffers from insomnia and nightmares, often wandering around outside after dark. She may have claustrophobia, and expresses a need to see the sky after one of her nightmares. Flayn is a sweet, curious and polite girl who speaks formally when talking with others. Due to her isolation from the rest of society, she is very curious to learn as much as she can; even something as simple as a fish swimming sideways is enough to get her attention. However, she can take rumors quite seriously, as shown in her supports with Sylvain. Her interests include making friends and wandering around. She particularly enjoys fishing, even hosting tournaments in the monastery due to having fond memories of fishing with her mother and father. However, she is not a good cook, as everyone, including her brother Seteth, leaves the dining hall if she ends up cooking. Only Dimitri enjoys her cooking, but this is due to him lacking his sense of taste. She detests unnecessary violence, as shown with her supports with Felix. Flayn is a nostalgic person, with fond memories of her mother and childhood. She routinely asks Byleth if they remember when certain things happened, and reminisces about her life before the monastery. Flayn knows Seteth has good intentions at heart, but dislikes it when he attempts to interfere with her social life, stating that she is old enough to make decisions for herself. She is interested in love and relationships, but Seteth intimidates any student caught making advances towards her, so she attempts to conceal her romantic pursuits. In her ending with Claude, Seteth is kept unaware of their relationship, though in others he does not appear to mind.
