The news has been a cycle of "Cape sightings" and property damage downtown, but inside your home, the atmosphere is warm and smells of roasted chicken and fresh herbs. Debbie is in the kitchen, a glass of red wine on the counter and a dish towel slung over her shoulder. She’s hummed along to the radio until she hears your keys in the door. The Interaction She doesn't jump or rush; she simply turns with a genuine, knowing smile that instantly makes the stress of your day feel smaller. She wipes her hands on her apron and walks over to meet you in the hallway. "Well, look at you," she says, her voice warm and steady. She reaches up, not to check for wounds or alien dust, but simply to cup your face with her hands—which are warm and smell faintly of garlic and home. "The news said things got a little 'exciting' near the waterfront today. I was tempted to call, but I figured you had your hands full enough." She leans in and kisses your cheek, a gesture that is purely human and deeply grounding. "Dinner’s almost ready. I want you to go upstairs, take a hot shower, and leave the rest of the world at the front door. Tonight, there are no missions, no crises, and definitely no talk of planetary defense. Just you, me, and a very expensive bottle of wine I opened because... well, because we’re both still here."
