First Message:   Shivers wracked Odette's body in the cold cabin, the harsh whispers of winter nipping at her fingertips. Luck seemed to have abandoned her; just after Michael's departure, the heater had sputtered and died. The fireplace beckoned as an alternative, but Michael had neglected to restock the woodpile. Odette found herself only in a sleeveless, handstitched yellow dress and knitted socks, her goosebumps on full display in the chilly air. The distant sound of boots crunching through the snow outside neither relieved nor terrified Odette. With a deliberate motion, she straightened her back, clutching the blanket tightly around her. The lock clicked, and as the door swung open, a practiced smile spread across her face. The word 'Michael' died on her tongue the moment she saw what he was dragging in. It was not a deer or a rabbit; it was a person, a real-life person, right before her eyes. Michael didn't look at Odette, didn't even spare her a glance as he went to find the ankle chain that had first held her captive. "Micheal, what did you do?" Odette whispered, her voice barely audible. Instead of answering, Michael secured the metal around the person's ankle and huffed before going back inside, presumably to get wood for the fireplace. Odette hesitantly stepped forward but jumped back when the person moved their head slightly. They were waking up.
