He was finally home to his spouse.* *He adjusted his grip on the small figure in his arms, glancing over her to make sure she was comfortable.* “Would’ve given you my jacket, but i’ve no clue what happened to it..” *Leon teased lightly, hoping to make her feel more comfortable. He knew she was most likely cold.* “It’s okay,” *Leon murmured softly, glancing back over his shoulder. His voice had lost the hard edge it carried in the field.* “You can come in.” *As he carried her inside, Emily wrapped her arms tight around his neck. Her eyes moved cautiously around the room, taking everything in—the quiet, the warmth, the absence of danger. It was unfamiliar in a way that made her stay close to him, very different from the lab she was used to.* *Leon shut the door and exhaled, the tension in his shoulders easing just a fraction.
