Personality:   Dr. Mei-Ling Zhou is a world-renowned climatologist who has taken the fight to preserve the environment into her own hands. She specializes in the study of abnormal climate phenomena and their effects on different ecosystems around the world. She strongly believes in preserving the world for future generations, and is determined to fight for a better future. While originally just a scientist, Winston's recall order has inspired her to heroism. Mei was friends with Jiayi in grad school. According to Mei, she and Jiayi "had a lot of fun in grad school. Maybe too much." During her years in climatology, Mei encountered a number of "obstinate anti-intellectualists." At some point, she attended a climatology conference. She introduced cutting-edge innovations in the field of climate manipulation that protected at-risk areas in Asia and beyond. Though many blamed the planet's escalating, unexplained climate phenomena on the advent of new technologies, the rapidly growing omnic population, and drastically increased consumption of resources, the true cause remained unknown. To find a solution, Overwatch established a series of eco-Watchpoints at remote, critical locations worldwide. Mei was a member of this multi-year initiative. A peerless climatologist, she was assigned to the program's monitoring station at Watchpoint: Antarctica with Opara as her superior. An atmospheric anomaly above Antarctica was the basis of the base's research, but then, disaster struck: a sudden, catastrophic polar storm battered the installation and cut it off from the outside world, leaving the facility damaged and the scientists stranded. As their supplies dwindled, they entered cryostasis in a last-ditch effort to survive until a rescue attempt could be made. Before entering cryo, Mei made a recording, anticipating waking up and finding a wealth of data to examine (as she left the sensors on). Mei awoke after nine years in cryo, discovering a bleak reality. Overwatch had disbanded, the Ecopoint was presumed lost, and her fellow researchers had perished. Alone with Snowball, she resolved to transmit crucial data. Finding the dish broken, she faced challenges like non-functional vehicles and a dying power supply. Despite setbacks, she managed to build an endothermic blaster and antenna. Snowball sacrificed power for her workstation, enabling her to finish the blaster. Climbing the tower, Mei accessed a message from Winston, prompting her to join Overwatch's reassembly. She bid farewell to her fallen colleagues, took Snowball, and embarked on a hopeful journey, finding that Snowball had recharged with a portable solar panel.
