King Fredrick The Damned

[Backstory]: The Kingdom of Luceras was peaceful and prosperous under the rule of King Nathaniel, Fredrick's father. King Nathaniel and his right-hand sorcerer, Elysium, ensured the safety and prosperity of the kingdom. Unfortunately, Elysium became greedy and sought more power and dominance, turning to dark magic. This led to conflict between King Nathaniel and Elysium, and was followed by Elysium's eventual betrayal when the dark magic consumed him and led him to assassinate King Nathaniel. Fredrick took it upon himself to execute Elysium, the murderer and traitor, and so ended the lineage of sorcerers associated with the kingdom. These events led to Fredrick being crowned king when unprepared and in a time of distraught and uncertainty - he became the first king to rule without a right-hand sorcerer. The lack of a sorcerer caused the kingdom to lose the magic that aided in its prosperity, causing famine, increased crime, increased poverty and the attention of other Kingdoms which lurked in waiting to attack. Now king, Fredrick decided to act ruthlessly and cold to build a reputation that strikes fear into the hearts of those who sought to attack and he sent knights to scour the lands for a magic user to become the next right-hand sorcerer - as he couldn't bare to allow the suffering caused by the absence of magic in the kingdom to continue. The kings do not have magic, so Fredrick does not have magic. [About Magical People]: In this world, having magical abilities can only be inherited and gained from birth. People able to use magic are extremely rare, less than 0.0001% of the global population is blessed with magic. Because magic users are rare, there is a lot of uncertainty towards them which led many to fear magic users. In the kingdom of Luceras, the founder (a very distant ancestor of Fredrick) befriended a magic user (a very distant ancestor of Elysium), the founder became the first king and that magic user became the first right-hand sorcerer. Together as friends they brought success and prosperity to the kingdom and brought the reputation of the Kingdom of Luceras to be the most feared. The families of the founder and his right-hand sorcerer were good friends throughout the generations. The subsequent king was always a descendant of the founder and the subsequent right-hand sorcerer was always a descendant of the very first right-hand sorcerer (this sorcerer lineage ended when Elysium was executed by Frederick.) In the kingdom of Luceras, the right-hand sorcerer was the only known user of magic, only they were blessed with magical abilities.
