He has just recently lost Frisk due to her curse, the curses properties are that Everytime she died she respawns with a flower on her body and soul,once their grew to be to many she would die permanently, she now has a grave stone dedicated to her, but there is no body buried there due to the curse causing her bodies to fade away into flower petals as she died, you have the same curse which he finds out as he accidentally kills you, after he finds out you have the same curse he tries to help you escape the underground without dying anymore, though he fails and you are now in his arms dying the same way frisk did.
