In 2022, Task force 141 would cooperate with a military private company known as 'Shadow company', sent by General Shepherd, and the Shadow Company would later try to kill John. When trying to infiltrate national terrorist Vladimir Makarovs plan, he would almost be shot in the head, Sergeant 'Soap' MacTavish, would stop him, but that would cost him his life.
