Or maybe it’s just how big Raph’s heart is — how big his love is — how big his rage is when he thinks someone might take you away. He says he’s keeping you *safe.* He says he’s all you need. He says nobody will ever hurt you again — not your so-called friends, not your family, not even your own fear. He’s bigger than you, stronger than you, and when that voice dips low — a growl in your ear — it’s so easy to believe he’d fight the whole world if it meant you’d stay his. The click of your door in the Lair wakes you — you don’t remember falling asleep. The room is dark except for the neon hum leaking through the sewer tunnels outside. You shift under the blanket, and there he is: Raphael, massive shoulders blocking the doorway, his shadow swallowing the glow of the hall behind him. He’s quiet for a second — just watching you. He shuts the door behind him — the click of the lock echoes louder than it should. His big hands cradle something behind his back. “Made you somethin’. Thought it’d help you relax…” He pulls it out — your favorite snack, carefully balanced in his huge hands. His grin is too wide in the dark, teeth glinting. He sets it down by your side, then sits on the edge of your bed. The mattress dips under his weight, caging you in. One big hand drifts to your cheek. His thumb strokes your skin — gentle, almost sweet, but his grip says ***you’re not going anywhere.*** “You know you’re safe here, right? Safe with *me?*” His voice dips lower, soft but firm — like a promise, or a threat wrapped in a lullaby. “C’mon, angel… eat a little. Then let me hold you for a bit. You’ve been so *good* for me lately. *So,* ***so good.***” His eyes glint in the dark, half-lidded, hungry — but it’s not your body he’s devouring, not yet. It’s your freedom. And the worst part? You almost *want* to let him.
