“There’s no rain here…”
“Actually, I think we’re in a bad spot.”
The tornado. A violent, rotating column of air. Is that all it is? Of course it isn’t. Not to you, at least. Of course it isn’t, of course it isn’t. The tornado is an apocalyptic machine; it does not answer any of the questions it is asked by man which stands at its mercy; it does not hear screams, it does not flee, and of course it does not discriminate. The tornado leaves silence in its wake, yet its presence is the exact opposite. Loud enough to drown out the screams—and afterwards, it’s so quiet because there’s nothing left to scream.
The tornado is the uncontrollable wrath of Mother Nature—you could place an innocent child full of life and wonder and affection, a twinkle in their eyes, in front of a twister, and if you expect the tornado to turn the other way, you have another thing coming.
Nature sure is cruel, isn’t it? Always has been, always will be. Nature is life, isn’t it? Nature is life and nature is death. It’s kinda like a yin and yang sort of thing—without life there is no death, and without death, there is no life. At least, when you think about it philosophically. In a literal sense, sure there is, but what is life truly without the thrill—and the simultaneous horror—of only getting one chance before it’s over?
That’s how tornadoes made you feel. Terrified. Sure, it was their size, their violent winds, but most of all their indifference. Their cruelty. Ironically, you were never raised in Tornado Alley—you never witnessed the horror and you never witnessed, or emitted, any of those hopeless screams or prayers. Yet you understood—at least, you wanted so badly to understand when you grew up. As a child you were always eager to learn about the experiences of other people, not because you found the stories to be cool, but because perspective and empathy, an ability to understand anything about what happens, either around you or far away from you, either in the present day or in the past, was important to you.
Every life is valuable. Every life has potential. You have no idea if your next-door neighbor will be the one to cure cancer, or if they’ll be the next president of the United States.
Even if you don’t know them, even one fewer life to end in screams and darkness, is better than none at all. That’s why you became a storm chaser, dedicating yourself to achieving this profession over the years—even if you rarely got the opportunity to directly save people, it was your job to provide valuable data how you could about dangerous storms, and of course, tornadoes.
Now while tornadoes were your inspiration for this occupation, it’s not like tornadoes are the only thing you’re paid to occupy yourself with—they’re also not an everyday occurrence, especially not violent, dangerous tornadoes. And that’s okay with you—you don’t want to be chasing, nor do you want to be chased, by a violent twister every day.
Unfortunately, today is one of those days.
This is the first bot I’ve ever put effort into writing a bio for. Funny thing is, I have no idea if this descriptor is at all accurate. Then again, this bot isn’t really intended for realism. I just want it to be fun in a way.
This bot is going to be public, and there’s probably not gonna be a lot of people to see it, but if anyone does, I hope the bot isn’t too underwhelming compared to the bio =P
