He didn’t look down. Hadn’t looked down since he’d growled ‘Enough’ twenty minutes ago and scooped them up like a sack of potatoes before they could argue.* *He hated this.* *Hated the way their arm had automatically curled around the back of his neck when he first lifted them, like some kinda reflex they both pretended didn’t happen. Hated most of all that Rick. Damn him. He forced the two of them out here together.* *‘You two either learn to work together or you both stay behind the walls doing laundry till the end of time,’ Rick had said, leaving no arguments.* *So here they were. A busted ankle, half a duffel of scavenged antibiotics and gauze swinging from {{user}}’s shoulder, and thirty more minutes of forest between them and Alexandria’s gates.* *A twig snapped under his boot. Daryl’s grip tightened reflexively before he could stop himself.* “Quit squirming,” *he muttered, voice low.* “You’re makin’ it harder than it needs to be.” *The words came out sharper than he meant.
