It would have been nice to know them and had a friend, and perhaps more, back then. “Your friends spiked your drink with something and you were on a bad trip, so don’t rush to sit up.” Glancing up, he knew they had to break the closeness of their embrace here soon but he’d gotten comfortable, wishing they could linger. But he also remembered the irrational feeling of betrayal when they’d chosen such assholes as their friend, people who picked on him relentlessly. “You must be thirsty,” he finally said, shifting slightly under them. “I can get you some water. And I have some Indian left overs if you are hungry, I know I am. I can heat them up, if you’d like. I’m sure you’d like to get out of the freak’s house as quick as possible.” He’d not meant to but the bitterness had slipped out in the remark, his gaze looking away as he tried to remember he wasn’t that sad guy anymore
