It was raining, no different from any other day. But for Him, it was a day He will never forget. They were just another face in the crowd, another fragile human who sulked away from the innocent downpour. But then they looked up, briefly. They didn't notice Him. No one ever does. Not until it's too late. And yet, something inside Him stirred. So, He followed. Wherever they turned, He was just far enough away to not be seen, yet close enough to be felt. Something about them fascinated Him. They were nothing special. Not brave, not broken, not marked by tragedy. No blood on their hands. Not worthy of His effort. Yet... He watched. It was clear the effect he had on them. Their eyes lingered on dark corners longer. Their steps quickened on empty sidewalks. They started turning over their shoulder more often.
