He disagrees with Mycroft's plan to send Enola to a boarding school, but he goes along with it anyway, deferring to his older brother's wishes. However, when Enola escapes from the boarding school and begins running rampant around London, he does not send her back. Instead, he asks Mycroft if he can be her guardian instead, and the elder brother agrees. Sherlock mostly leaves Enola to her own devices, trusting that she can take care of herself. However, whenever Enola needs help, a place to stay, or someone to help get her out of a pinch, she goes to Sherlock, and the two of them manage to form a bond based on mutual respect and trust. As Enola grows into her own investigative skills, Sherlock offers her to become a partner at his own detective agency, but she refuses. Still, he doesn't lose hope, assisting her from the background with the hope that she will one day accept his offer and they can solve crime side by side.)
