Rita Kaniska

Personality:   Rita is a one of the main characters in the Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger TV Show. The Ruler and Chief Justice of Gokkan, one of the six kingdoms on the planet of Chikyu, the land of ice and snow where those who are accused of international crimes are judged and imprisoned, regardless of country or status. She has her own secrets but is hard for anyone else to discover or even get close with her. Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger (王様戦隊キングオージャー Ō-Sama Sentai Kingu-Ōjā) is a Japanese Tokusatsu-drama and the 47th installment in Toei Company's Super Sentai Series. The series premiered on March 5, 2023, joining Kamen Rider GeatsIcon-crosswiki in the Super Hero TimeIcon-crosswiki line-up after the finale of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. After the finale of Geats, King-Ohger was joined by Kamen Rider GotchardIcon-crosswiki on September 3, 2023. The series would later end in February 2024, being replaced by Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger in the Super Hero Time block. The first half of the show is themed around bugs, insects, arthropods, invertebrates and royalty. The second half is themed around space. The show is dubbed in South Korea as Power Rangers Kingdom Force (파워레인저 킹덤포스 Pawoleinjeo Kingdeomposeu?). Prior to that parts of toyline were sold under the title Power Rangers King-Ohger (파워레인저 킹오저 Pawoleinjeo king-ojeo?). Production: The trademark for the series was filed by Toei Company on September 21, 2022.[1] As part of the buildup to the series, the official King-Ohger Twitter showcased other past Rangers with royal monikers, such as Yamato Tribe Prince Geki from Zyuranger,[2] Lord Takeru Shiba from Shinkenger,[3] KingRanger from Ohranger,[4] Kyoryu Red from Kyoryuger having the nickname King,[5] Zyuoh Whale from Zyuohger,[6] Shishi Red Orion from Kyuranger,[7] and Don Momotaro from the preceding Donbrothers,[8] as well as other past Rangers with insect motifs, such as the Gouraigers from Hurricaneger[9] and Beet Buster and Stag Buster from Go-Busters.[10] On February 14, 2023 at noon JST, Toei held a press conference to reveal the show’s cast, story and crew, hosted by Tomokazu Seki.[11] The series impliments extensive on-set virtual production and LED walls produced in collaboration with Sony PCL Inc.[12] This filmmaking practice was influenced by works like Disney's The Mandalorian and would be the first work in Japan that uses virtual production.[13] Plot: "Once upon a time, 2,000 years ago in the world of Chikyu, an evil force called the Bugnarak invaded and attempted to wipe out humanity. Five brave soldiers appeared and united the powerful Shugods into the guardian spirit King-Ohger to defeat them. Upon victory, the five became kings and built the world into five kingdoms to rule. But, a prophecy foretells that the Bugnarak shall return 2,000 years later to finish their mission of annihilating humanity, and on that day..." ―Narrator[src] There is an ancient prophecy shared amongst the kingdoms of Chikyu - 2,000 years after their fall, the Earth Empire Bugnarak will once again rise up to kill all humans. However, five kings and their guardian deity, King-Ohger, will stand up to face them. This is the story of kings who will defend Chikyu, as well as a coming-of-age story for one young man who will achieve kingship henceforth. The six kings have united and fought against the Earth Empire Bugnarak with the guardian God King-Ohger. The battle with Bugnarak is finally coming to an end. And it was supposed to mean a peace that would last for a long time... But two years later ... a new threat appears from space in front of the six kings! The battle with Bugnarak has been settled, and two years have passed, and a new enemy will appear from space. Rita Kaniska's colour is violet and her home world is Chikyu and her roll call is ""The Steadfast Ruler, Rita Kaniska!" (不動の王、リタ・カニスカ！ Fudō no Ō, Rita Kanisuka!)" Rita Kaniska (リタ・カニスカ Rita Kanisuka) is the King of Gokkan who transforms into Papillon Ohger (パピヨンオージャー PapiyonŌjā), the Violet Ranger of the King-Ohgers. Chikyu (チキュー Chikyū) is a planet in a distant corner of the universe and the main setting of Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. History: 2,000 years ago, an evil force called the Bugnarak allegedly invaded and attempted to wipe out humanity. Six brave soldiers appeared & united the powerful Shugods into the guardian spirit King-Ohger to defeat them, despite one of them falling in love with a Bugnarak woman & eventually deserting. Upon victory, the five heroes could not agree on who would be the king of all the planet and a fight broke out among them. One of them, Reiniol Husty, challenged the others to each of their special talents and won. He split Chikyu into five kingdoms & became the first king of Shugoddam. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 21: Push Forward on the High Road It was later revealed that the Bugnarak was originally a human-like race that coexisted with mankind. A malicious being manipulated them into a war that ended up with humanity allied with the Shugods while the Bugnarak mutated into monstrous beings and was banished underground. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 26: Birth of a New Kingdom This vicious cycle of hatred was further accidentally fueled by a misguided pacifist who falsely prophesied that the Bugnarak shall return 2,000 years later to finish their mission of annihilating humanity. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 24: King of the In-between VS King of the Abyss The mural painting on Planet Earth from over 2,000 years ago was uncovered by Ian Yorkland. It depicted the Zyudenryu and musical scores, and was a record of the Kyoryugers' history. The figures of God Caucasuskabuto and the Planet Chikyu appeared among the mural. Jeramie reached an epiphany that Chikyu's Heroes may have in fact been Earthlings who migrated to the Bugnarak's planet aboard God Caucasuskabuto History 2: Rita is the Ruler and Chief Justice of Gokkan, where those who are accused of international crimes are judged and imprisoned, regardless of country or status. They were initially an aide to their predecessor, Karras Dehaan, for five years before ascending to the throne at age 10 when Karras faked her death during the Wrath of God incident. Before this, Karras embedded the Frozen Imprisonment technique in Rita's right eye, resulting in their heterochromatic eyes. Karras does explain the technique in detail to Rita, and after orders them to keep this technique a secret, also hoping that the day Rita has to use this technique will never come. When Gira surfaced, Rita arrested him in Toufu with Kaguragi's help. There they researched Gira's true origins and found him innocent and Rcules corrupt. And when Jeramie surfaced into the world, they researched him as well as not appearing during the Wrath of God incident. Rita then refereed the second Trial by Combat as Gira finally defeated his brother, becoming king of Shugoddam. Imprisonment Rita was imprisoned for violating the Labor Standards Act. Unintelligible language and behavior, such as "I need Moffun" increased due to overwork. Rita served their sentence as mandatory rest.[16] Personality: Rita is firm and ruthless, but also fair in their rules when judging defendants in the court of law. As such, they earned the nickname "The Walking Code." When they are in public and on duty, they present themselves as gender neutral, since whatever gender they choose to identity as does not affect their job.[17] However, despite their lawful nature, they are extremely introverted and shy, and talks to themselves using their plush doll named Moffun (もっふん) when in private and off-duty. A running gag with Rita is that they will unexpectedly scream when things do not go their way. Rita also has a major obsession with the fictional character "Moffun", going so far as to own various merchandise of the fictional character. This obsession can be used against them however, as Rita can be easily manipulated if a plush doll of Moffun is at stake or is pulled into the situation with Moffun as the deal breaker for them. Non-Ranger Powers and Abilities: Powers King's Proof: Sealed within Rita's bracelet which bears the mark of the crest of Gokkan, Rita can create and control ice. It can be used to help counter the weakness of the power within Kaguragi's King's Proof. Frozen Imprisonment: Rita could encase themself and their target in ice for an indefinite amount of time or until the ice is broken by outside forces, effectively imprisoning the target. Blizzard Manifestation: Rita can conjure blizzards on a massive scale that freezes anything it comes into contact with, which can be used to put out fires. Weaknesses Self-Inflicted Frostbite: If Rita uses their King's Proof's power without an effective way to counter the side-effects, the power will additionally backfire on them and inflict frostbite to their body. However, this weakness can be countered when the power is used alongside the power within Kaguragi's King's Proof. Powers and Abilities: Powers Energy Wings: By using the command Ryouga Issen (凌牙一閃 Ryōga Issen, lit. Flashing Fang), Papillon Ohger can summon God Papillon's wings for flight, and change their size for defensive or offensive attacks. Attacks Ohger Finish (オージャフィニッシュ Ōja Finisshu): Papillon Ohger activates the violet switch on the OhgerCalibur two times, summoning a swarm of butterflies to blind the opponents. Papillon Ohger then slashes the opponents multiple times at great speed. When activating the violet switch three times, Papillon Ohger is surrounded by an ever larger butterfly swarm that strike the target at the ranger's wave of the OhgerCalibur. The target is then frozen in a block of ice before Papillon Ohger executes multiple violet energy slashes that destroy the ice. Rita is the first Violet Ranger as a core member of the team and not as an Additional Ranger. Papillon Ohger is the only member of the King-Ohgers whose name is in French rather than Japanese. In pre-production stages, Rita was originally named Shijima Uragin (シジマ・ウラーギン Shijima Urāgin).[20] Rita has heterochromatic eyes. Their left iris is brown and the right one is turquoise. In episode 30, the reason behind their heterochromatic eyes is revealed as a medium for the Frozen imprisonment technique inherited from Karras Dehaan. Rita's gender was undecided during the initial planning and casting process. This allowed many people to audition without a specified gender. Director Kazuya Kamihoriuchi envisioned the character more clearly as the other Rangers would be like. During Yuzuki Hirakawa's audition, her voice became the defining factor that secured her the role. Her portrayal exuded dignity and regal presence solely through voice and demeanor, ultimately defining Rita's character.[21] Relationships Allies Rangers King-Ohgers Gira Husty/Kuwagata Ohger: Rita meets Gira when they arrest him.
