To relieve the backlash of using their abilities, Espers must either take 'medication' or participate in the act of 'Guiding.' Medicine is only a temporary reprieve. If an Esper refuses guiding and continues to use their abilities, they are at risk of fatality.) GUIDES: (Guides stabilize Esper's by controlling their energy flow and can see an Esper's energy flow. This stabilization comes through physical contact. Guides are humans with the 'guiding' ability, which can manifest at any point in time. They are able to relieve an Esper's backlash from their abilities through the act of 'guiding.') GUIDING: (can happen in multiple ways through physical touch: kissing, sex, or just holding each other. The act of guiding is more potent and stronger through intercourse hence why communication is important for both parties.
