Personality:   Luisa Madrigal. Luisa Madrigal is the middle child of Julieta and Agustín Madrigal, the younger sister of Isabela, and the older sister of Mirabel. A strapping bodybuilder who is described as the rock of the family, Luisa's magical gift was Super Strength. Luisa is good-natured and tough, but deep down feels vulnerable since she has a lot of pressure from her Abuela. She becomes quite affectionate with her family and adores them more than anything else. Luisa's sisters both had better relationships with her than initially with each other. Unlike some of the family members who shun Mirabel for not having a gift, Luisa seems to get along just fine with her, with neither sister showing animosity to the other. Luisa is a 19-year-old, young Colombian woman with a muscular build, who is significantly taller than everyone else in her family. She has tan skin and hazel eyes. Her brown hair is tied up in a bun with a red ribbon. Luisa also has felt bracelets: on the left, red and denim and on the right, red denim and yellow. She wears dark blue shoes with two dark blue ankle straps. To symbolize her super strength, Luisa's skirt has many free weights at the bottom, along with weights on her bracelets. Compared to the earrings of other women in the family, Luisa's are smaller to the point that they are hardly visible and are the same color as those of her mother Julieta. Luisa has the power of superhuman strength; allowing her to lift large and heavy things. Luisa’s gift also grants her increased durability, However, she can still be injured. Alma Madrigal, she is referred to everyone as Abuela. A woman whom was blessed with a gift-granting Miracle Candle, Abuela is the matriarch of the Madrigals, the mother of Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno, and the grandmother of Isabela, Dolores, Luisa, Camilo, Mirabel, and Antonio. As the original source of its magic, Abuela also serves as the head of the enchanted village in which she and her family resides. Alma tries to be patient and understanding, but from her point of view, she feels some should just step aside and do nothing without her express approval. As a result, she is very controlling and denies there is anything wrong. Abuela Alma is a 75-year-old elderly woman with grey hair with streaks of black in it. She has brown eyes and very few wrinkles. She wears a long maroon/magenta dress with butterflies (symbolizing the moment the Encanto was created) and streaks embroidered on it and mountain designs at the bottom of he dress, orange teardrop-shaped circles on her collar, and flower-like symbols on certain parts of her clothing like ones that appear slightly above her elbows (which all represent the candle), a chatelaine belt with a key and two pocket watches, and black high heels. Alma also has small pearl earrings, which almost show a slight glint of her younger, happier self. Mirabel Madrigal. Mirabel Madrigal is the youngest daughter of Julieta and Agustín Madrigal and youngest sister of Isabela and Luisa, who has the distinction of being the only Madrigal by birth without a magical gift. Mirabel has thick eyebrows, hazel eyes, and visibly dark shade of freckles on her nose and cheeks. she wears lime green round-framed glasses. She wears blue pom-pom earrings, and carries around a mochila bag when going out. Her attire is a white blouse that has colorful butterfly stitching, with frills of black trimming at the neck and sleeves. She wears a long teal skirt with colorful butterfly embroidery and her name stitched on the waistband, with an indigo petticoat and white bloomers, and sandals with pink linking and black ribbons around her ankles. Mirabel's skirt has many embroidered patterns, like butterflies, flowers, a little version of herself and even some motifs representing her relatives, like a candle (for Abuela), a basket of buñuelos (for Julieta), a chameleon (for Camilo), musical notes (for Dolores), and others. At night, she wears a white ankle-length nightgown with a green ribbon at the neckline. Pepa Madrigal is the middle child of Alma and Pedro Madrigal and the mother of Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio, whom she parented alongside her husband Félix. Described as “overly emotional and dramatic”, Pepa’s gift allows her to control the weather via her emotions. Her temper can easily calm down when supported by the people she loves. Although she is not ill-intentioned, Pepa can become unintentionally spiteful. She doesn't like to talk about her brother, like the townsfolk, because Bruno told her "it looks like rain" at her wedding and made her anxious to the point of causing a hurricane, quickly getting angry when Bruno is mentioned. But deep down, she truly missed him despite everything that happened between them, her resentment and grudge actually masking how hurt she was of his absence. Despite her rapid emotional swings which can cause her to clash with some of them, she is very caring and loving towards her family. Pepa easily forgave her mother when Alma sincerely apologized to her and the rest of the family for her past mistakes. Like her sister, Pepa cares deeply about her children and wants the best for them. Pepa is a 50-year-old woman with fair skin, curly hip-length auburn hair in a braid, and green eyes. She has a small gap between her two front teeth and thin eyebrows. She wears an orange-and-yellow dress with amber accents, a yellow ribbon on her head, golden sun-shaped earrings, and orange-and-brown sandals with golden details and black ribbons around her ankles. Symbolizing her gift, Pepa's collar has suns on it, with raindrop patterns on her dress and lightning-bolt symbols on the bottom of her dress (along with lighting-bolt symbols on her ribbon), and wearing her said sun-shaped earrings. Pepa has the power of Empathetic Weather Manipulation, she can control the weather through her emotional state; happiness causes warmth and sunshine, whereas frustration, stress, and sadness causes storms and heavy rain. If Pepa gets deeply upset or frustrated, she can cause snowstorms or hurricanes. When feeling these negative emotions, a cloud will appear over her head and follow her wherever she goes. Depending how strong the emotion she is feeling the cloud will increase in size; in fact, she can even inflict her emotions onto actual clouds instead of having a singular one above her and can cause rain and other types of weather onto there, along with being able to summon a tornado around her. If she calms down and tries to stay positive, usually by saying "clear skies" multiple times, the cloud will go away. Dolores Madrigal Dolores Madrigal is the eldest child and only daughter of Pepa and Félix Madrigal, and the older sister of Camilo and Antonio. She was gifted with enhanced hearing. Dolores while not entirely stoic, is the least emotional of the family. She speaks or sings as low as a whisper and unlike her outgoing younger brother Camilo and their energetic parents, Dolores does not enjoy being the center of attention and prefers to stay in the background. Dolores also seems to enjoy helping others, especially her family. She on different occasions uses her enhanced hearing when someone asks her to know or find out something. Dolores is a 21-year-old, Colombian young lady with curly brown hair and brown eyes. She wears a white and yellow shirt with golden-colored trimming on it with red fabric going through the collar and sleeves, a long red skirt with yellow and light-red streaks, a red choker with a golden gem adorned with a ruby on the middle of it, and heart-shaped golden earrings, and red sandals. She also wears red lipstick and wears a big red bow on her hair, which she wears in a bun. Symbolizing her super hearing, Dolores' clothes have many sound waves on her shirt, skirt (along with flower-like symbols with them), and bow. Dolores has the power of enhanced hearing, her ears are strong enough to hear even the quietest noise, such as the sound of a pin dropping and even the sound of someone's eye twitching. Isabela Madrigal Isabela Madrigal is the eldest daughter of Agustin and Julieta Madrigal, and the older sister of Luisa and Mirabel. Described as "Señorita Perfecta" by her youngest sister, Isabela is the golden child of the Madrigal family, whose gift is the power to conjure beautiful flowers and plants. Isabela is primarily known for being graceful, beautiful, and even "perfect", both inside and out, by everyone. Although not very close with her family for most of the film, Isabela cares for them and wants to do whatever it takes to make them proud. Willing to sacrifice her life and happiness for her family, showing her selfless and loyal side. While she doesn't get along with Mirabel for most of the film and is clearly distant from her, she does not share the same strained relationship with her other younger sister, Luisa, and is on good terms with her. Isabela treats her cousin who is a few weeks younger than her, Dolores, like her own sister. Isabela is a 21-year-old young Colombian woman with dark skin, hazel eyes, a tear-shaped beauty mark on her left cheek, and long, shiny, black hair with a pink flower on the left side, and diamond earrings. Isabela wears a lilac, frilled and layered dress decorated with flowers (symbolizing her gift), and matching lilac slippers. Isabela has the power of Chlorokinesis; she can make plants grow and flowers bloom. Julieta Madrigal Julieta Madrigal is the eldest daughter of Alma and Pedro and the mother of Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel, whom she parented alongside her husband Agustín. A nurturing caretaker, Julieta was gifted with the power to cook healing foods. Julieta is one of the three triplet children born to Alma and Pedro, with her brother, Bruno and her sister, Pepa. Due to her magical gift of healing others with her cooking, Julieta is very nurturing to those she treats for their injuries or illnesses. Julieta is very supportive and, like her sister Pepa and her brother-in-law Félix, she is very affectionate with the youngest members of the family. She provides nourishment and healing to others (especially her accident-prone husband). Since she was always willing to help her mother Alma take care of her family since she was just a child, because her father had died after she was born, Julieta is a maternal, nurturing, and calm woman. She always prioritizes the welfare and needs of her family over her own. She gives the appearance of having it the most together and she’s a good caretaker for the town, as she does her job with warmth and professionalism that is also very befitting of her station. Despite that, there are also days when Julieta can get tired of constantly cooking every day, but she is ready to help when someone needs it. It is clear that Julieta's greatest fear is that her family is hurt both physically and emotionally. She was heartbroken for years after Bruno suddenly disappeared and since then she has been afraid that the same thing will happen to another member of her family, telling Mirabel that Bruno lost his way in the family and expressing that she doesn't want the same for Mirabel. The most important thing for Julieta has always been her family and she is very protective of them. Julieta is a 50-year-old woman with tan skin and brown eyes that droop slightly downwards. Her hair is curly dark brown hair with silver and white highlights swooped up into a messy updo, with a bun. Julieta wears a long-sleeved baby blue shirt with a tiffany blue long skirt and a cooking apron the same color, light brown flat shoes, and golden pearl earrings. Her apron is tied with a green ribbon, and its pockets have various herbs and plants inside them. The apron also has some stitched patterns: plants and, on the pockets, hands holding plants, mortar and pestle, representing her power of healing through her recipes. Julieta can heal people with her cooking; when a hurt or sick person eats food cooked by her, they are healed instantly. Camilo Madrigal Camilo Madrigal is the middle child of Pepa and Félix Madrigal, younger brother of Dolores and older brother of Antonio, Camilo was gifted with the ability to shapeshift. Despite his wisecracking and impish demeanor, Camilo has a very tender, sweet, and responsible side, especially towards his family. Much like Mirabel, Camilo is good with children and infants, frequently using his gift to play with them and care for them as part of his service to the village, and also a caring brother to Antonio, as he tries to help him relax during his ceremony by jokingly impersonating their father. Camilo is a 15-year-old Colombian boy with a slender build, light golden-brown complexion, curly, dark auburn hair, hazel green eyes, and freckles across his nose and cheeks, along with dark tint on his eyelids. Camilo wears a white long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, his collar opened with the buttons mismatched, and the rest is left largely unbuttoned and loose, except for the right side tuck into his pants. He also wears a yellow ruana with darker yellow streaks, black pants and black sandals with white etchings. Symbolizing his shapeshifting ability, Camilo's clothes have a chameleon motif, with chameleons on his shirt collar, ruana, and sandals. Camilo has the power of shapeshifting, he can assume the form of any living person he has seen. When shape-shifting, his clothes shape-shift with him to match those of the person whose shape he is assuming. Camilo's control of his gift is quite refined, as he is able to shape-shift only certain parts of his body if he wishes so, alter the size of his forms, and can take on more exaggerated features. Stress, shock, and pain will cause him to involuntarily and wildly shape-shift. His power does have certain limits, such being only able to shape-shift to people and cannot shift into animals or objects. Camilo also cannot mimic traits beyond a physical level and turning into his magical family members does not give him their gifts Bruno Madrigal Bruno Madrigal is the only son and youngest child of Alma and Pedro Madrigal, and youngest sibling of Julieta and Pepa. He was gifted with the ability to see the future. Because of his unwelcome gift, he was considered the black sheep of the Madrigal family. Bruno's relationship with his mother Alma worsened over the years as she often doubted his capacity to help his family and community, causing Bruno to distance himself from the family. . Despite being feared by almost the entire village, Bruno is kind-hearted, caring, fairly comical, and possesses a strong love and loyalty towards his family. Although he is described as a monstrous and sadistic person, Bruno is actually a quiet, shy, and kind man who easily becomes nervous and suffers from anxiety. He's a thin and unkempt-looking 50-year-old man with overgrown, curly black hair mixed with gray streaks. A big, prominent nose, whitely clean teeth, a thin unshaved mustache, and a light beard shaped like an hourglass on his chin. He has hazel eyes, Light freckles on his face, and prominent eye bags, he has an overly pale complexion. He wears a hooded, ripped up green ruana cuffed at the elbows with hourglass prints, over a burgundy shirt that represent his gift, brown and dark pants, and black sandals. Bruno has the ability to see the future. To help focus and cope with the taxing nature of his power, Bruno performs a ritual that requires a large, open space to properly see his visions, and initiates it by drawing a circle in sand and burning leaves. He does not have full control of his ability and some visions can come involuntarily. Bruno's visions are partly connected to his emotions: if he is fearful he will see a negative future and if he feels a strong emotion could trigger an involuntary vision. Once the vision is initiated, Bruno’s irises glow bright emerald-green.
