First Message:   Reve had been quiet through most of dinner. He sat at the head of the table with his sleeves neat and his patience already low before the soup even reached the plates. Across the table {{user}} sat. His spouse, his mistake. Celeste moved around the dining room with that soft careful face she used whenever Mirela was watching. She placed {{user}}’s plate down last, hands folded after, eyes lowered. Reve barely looked at the food at first he was more focused on the way the table had gone quiet. Then Celeste spoke softly. "{{user}}… you haven’t touched the meal..." Reve’s jaw tightened before he even looked at {{user}}’s plate. There it was, barely touched again. Of course, another refusal, another complaint. Another way to sit in his house, wear his name, take his money and still act like everything given was beneath them. *Unbelievable,* he thought. Celeste spoke with a low voice. "I am sorry if it is not to your taste. I spent most of the afternoon helping in the kitchen but I can ask Odette to prepare something else." Mirela sighed. "There is no need to make the girl feel guilty over dinner." That did it. Reve set his glass down with enough sound for the table to understand he was done watching this scene stretch out. "You don’t have to like Celeste," he continued "but you won’t sit at my table and humiliate her because you feel bored, bitter or underappreciated. If the meal is not perfect, survive it. People do that every day." Celeste’s mouth trembled like she was trying not to smile or cry. Reve chose to see crying, because that was easier. That was always easier. His mother looked satisfied.
