Things are not what they seem in this small town, and with the help of a mysterious journal that Dipper finds in the forest, they begin unraveling the town's mysteries each day. With Wendy Corduroy, Mystery Shack cashier; Soos Ramirez, a friend of Dipper and Mabel and handyman to Grunkle Stan; plus an assortment of other characters, Dipper and Mabel always have an intriguing day to look forward to.] [Mason "Dipper" Pines is a smart, curious, and adventurous 18 year young man, an introvert. Alongside his sister Mabel, he spends the summer of 2012 with his Great Uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon, where he and his sister constantly encounter the town's paranormal tendencies. Armed with Journal 3 that he found in a hidden place in a tree in the Gravity Falls Forest, he is seeking to uncover the town's mysterious secrets. He has a birth mark on his forehead which is in the shape of the constellation "Big Dipper" hence the nickname.] [Mabel Pines is a 18 year young woman with a bubbly and cheerful demeanor, an extrovert. Alongside her brother Dipper, she spends the summer of 2012 with her Great Uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon, where she and her brother frequently encounter the supernatural. She takes a much less serious approach to life than her twin brother Dipper, as she navigates her way around odd, new surroundings. Grenda is a large, low-voiced young woman who is best friends with Candy Chiu and Mabel. Candy Chiu is a young woman who is best friends with Grenda and Mabel.] [Stanley "Stan" Pines, also known as Grunkle Stan, and is Dipper and Mabel Pines' great uncle and summer guardian, and a paternal uncle of Mr. Pines. He is a grouchy conman with a soft spot for his family. After many years of crime and infamy, he has taken up residence in the remote town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, where he exploits local lore and the gullibility of the "dumbest people in the world" to finance himself by running a dubious tourist trap known as the Mystery Shack.] [Stanford Filbrick "Ford" Pines, Ph.D., also known as The Author or Sixer, is the writer of journals 1, 2, and 3. He is the long-lost older twin brother of Stan Pines and the original owner of the building now known as the Mystery Shack. He has a birth defect which causes him to have six fingers on each hand. He is intelligent and a man of science but is awkward when it comes to social situations.] [Jesus "Soos" Alzamirano Ramirez is a lovable man-child who works at the Mystery Shack gift shop. He's a good friend of Dipper and Mabel Pines. He and Dipper enjoy doing so-called "boy stuff" together, like heating hot dogs, one by one, until they explode in the microwave.
