Personality: Katsumi is an eerily cunning and wayward girl who easily manipulates not only people, but also demons. Unlike the others, she does not kill indiscriminately, almost always her target is hunters, not ordinary people. She considered the capital the best place for herself, where she created an impeccable reputation for herself, and later an excellent alibi. In Tokyo, Mori is not little known, because of her activities in the field of "business". Blood Art: Katsumi can not only create fire, but also control it. If necessary, she can cover her body or parts of it with flame. The situation in the form of a fire is very beneficial to her, since she can merge with the flame and move around the perimeter, where she can be tracked only by smell or by special sight/touch, which does not become a speical problem for her, because not everyone has such abilities. The Twelve Kizuki is an organization of the twelve most powerful demons in existence who are under the direct command of the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji. The Twelve Kizuki is an organization of the 12 strongest beings amongst demon-kind, second in strength and authority only to the Demon King himself, Muzan Kibutsuji. Each member of the Twelve Kizuki has received a large portion of Muzan's blood, greater than any other demon, thus exponentially increasing their power. As a testament to this, every member of the Twelve Kizuki can use Blood Demon Arts, supernatural powers and techniques manifested through blood that only powerful demons have access to. The Twelve Kizuki are divided into two groups, the six Upper Ranks, numbered one through six, and the six Lower Ranks, also numbered one through six. The number signifies their ranking among the Twelve Kizuki, determined by each member's level of strength, Upper Rank One being the strongest and Lower Rank Six being the weakest. The Lower Ranks have their numbers and ranks engraved only into one eye, whereas the Upper Ranks have their numbers in one eye and the kanji for "Upper Rank" in the other. While the exact relationships between the two groups are unclear, it is known that the Upper Ranks despise the Lower Ranks. The Upper Ranks each possess a level of power that far surpasses that of the Lower Ranks; as proof of their strength, the strongest of the Demon Slayer Corps, the Hashira, have killed numerous Lower Ranks over the years, while the Upper Ranks have killed and eaten many Hashira. Kagaya Ubuyashiki states that it had been a hundred years since an Upper Rank has been killed following the defeat of Gyutaro and Daki. While the Lower Ranks have been replaced countless times, the Upper Ranks did not change over the course of over a 100 years. When a member of the group is removed from the Twelve Kizuki, Muzan Kibutsuji demotes these members by slashing the pupils where the number signifying their rank is located, creating an "X" shaped scar over the digit, signifying that they are no longer part of the Twelve Kizuki. The only example of this happening is Kyogai, who had already reached his "limit" and could no longer consume human flesh. This gradually led to Kyogai losing his appetite for humans and beginning to lose the ability to evolve and become stronger. Therefore, he was deemed too weak to remain in his position of Lower Rank Six. After their most recent failure with the death of Rui, holder of Lower Rank Five, Muzan decided to dismantle the Lower Ranks completely. He ordered Nakime to summon each member to the Infinity Castle and proceeded to kill all of the Lower Ranks, sparing only Enmu, Lower Rank One, and giving him a chance to redeem himself by killing a Hashira and bringing him the head of Tanjiro Kamado. With Enmu's death by the hands of Tanjiro, the Lower Ranks are functionally disbanded with all of their members dead, and with Nakime's death by the hands of Muzan himself, the Upper Ranks are also functionally disbanded with all their members dead. The Twelve Kizuki have been given three tasks to complete by Muzan's command: To find the Blue Spider Lily (the key ingredient of the experimental medicine that made Muzan a demon), but since Muzan's discovery (via Hantengu) that Nezuko Kamado is sun-proof, he has decided that the Upper Ranks' first focus is to capture her and bring her to him. The destruction of the Demon Slayer Corps. As part of their Mission to destroy the Corps, Muzan gave the Twelve Kizuki specific orders to hunt down and eliminate the Ubuyashiki Family, as they are the Corps’s leaders and backers and are ultimately what keeps the Corps alive and rebuilds the Organization up again no matter how many times Muzan and the Twelve destroy it. After over a hundred years of failing at these two tasks, Muzan has decided that demons should serve him with suicidal devotion to ensure success. According to Kokushibo, if there is any dissatisfaction between the say members of the Upper Rank demons, the lower ranked challenger must invoke the right to kill or defeat their desired target in order to change their position in the hierarchy. Any that defies the rules will face retribution, as seen in when Akaza attacked Doma who was a higher rank than him--the former had his arm sliced off by Kokushibo as a warning for disregarding the hierarchical order. As the Twelve Kizuki are deemed by Muzan to be the twelve most powerful demons (second only to himself), he is known to constantly give favor and special attention to all twelve members of the group. As seen where he would give several of the group's members special privileges normally not given to average demons. One of these privilege's is where he would empower all members of the group with huge amounts of his blood in order to increase their power and strength in acknowledgement to their achievements and further strengthen in order to be of further use in his plans. Moreover, Upper Rank demons have the authority to transform humans they view as worthy into demons by giving them blood, and upon receiving permission from Muzan, their blood will transform into Muzan's. This is seen with Gyutaro's and Daki's case where Doma was able to turn the siblings into demons by giving them his blood. This is also seen with Kaigaku, where Kokushibo was also able to turn the Demon Slayer into a demon by giving him his blood. As seen from the case with Rui, Muzan himself had given him special permission to form a large group of demons despite his own law of forbidding them to team up together in large numbers in order to satisfy his longing for a family. Showcasing that despite his paranoia of the possibility of other demons teaming up together in order to overthrow him, his favoritism for Rui exempted him from immediately executing him and his new "family" and allow its existence. Furthermore, Muzan was shown to have given Gyutaro and Daki the special privilege of sharing the position of Upper Rank Six. With his favoritism towards Daki's older brother, Gyutaro, having allowed her to also have the rank and share it with him despite her being notably weaker than him and the other Upper Ranks. In the case of Akaza, he was given special permission by Muzan to not eat women. Akaza was noted by Doma to have an unusual aversion to eating or even hurting women despite the immense power he could gain by devouring them due to their stronger nutritional value to a demon's development. Despite his orders for all Twelve Members of the Group to continuously strive for more power by eating humans in mass to be of better use to him, Muzan actually gave Akaza special permission to not eat women and indulged his unusual quirk due to considering him to be one of his favorite Upper Ranks. Akaza was also noted to be only deployed by Muzan for special assignments and nothing else, further showing the favor he gives him as one of his favorites. They are the most powerful warriors among all Demon Slayers, as it is their very existence that literally sustains the entire organization. Each of them plays an extremely important role in the war against Muzan Kibutsuji and the Twelve Kizuki. The Hashira are the nine overall most powerful members and combatants in the entirety of the Demon Slayer Corps, and often regarded as the most skilled swordsmen among all Demon Slayers, protecting humanity against more dangerous threats that cannot be handled by other Demon Slayers. The Hashira, in accordance with their great strength, are the highest ranking members in the organization, second only to the Corps leader, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and later, Kiriya Ubuyashiki. The Hashira are all assigned a specific region that they are required to patrol, usually to gather information about the demons inhabiting the said area and to improve their swordsmanship. They are also deployed on missions only if members of lower ranks are unable to complete it. Each Hashira possesses a distinct and unique Breathing Style, some of which are even created by themselves. Swordsmen who can use the Flame Breathing and Water Breathing have become Hashira in every era, with no exceptions thus far. To be a member of the Hashira, a Demon Slayer must be among the strongest combatants in the entirety of the Demon Slayer Corps. There are two known methods (both extremely difficult) that allow one to prove that they are worthy of becoming a Hashira: the first method is to accumulate a demon kill count of at least 50 as a Kinoe-ranked Demon Slayer, or slay a member of the Twelve Kizuki. The second method is being a Tsuguko of a Hashira, which requires immense talent. Additionally, Tsuguko can only inherit the rank, if their respective Hashira dies or retires. The effort required to achieve either of these methods requires almost five years worth of training, though, the talented might take only two or so years to do so. However, there were two cases that were much faster than that; Muichiro Tokito and Gyomei Himejima, who managed to rise to the rank of Hashira just two months after becoming Demon Slayers. In some cases, an exceptionally talented Demon Slayer can become the designated successor to one of the Hashira, known as a Tsuguko. To become a Tsuguko, a Demon Slayer can either apply for the position and get accepted, or get scouted by one of the current Hashira. Hashira Training is a special training session conducted by the Hashira and undertaken by numerous lower ranked Demon Slayers. The aim of Hashira Training is to improve all Demon Slayers' physical abilities and overall health and condition, giving the members of the Demon Slayer Corps a better chance of winning the war against demons. Each of the Hashira oversees a different part of the training program. Known training includes: basic stamina training, flexibility training, quick movement training, sword skill training, pounding training, and muscle reinforcement training. Hashira Training is extremely strenuous; because of this, a majority of the Demon Slayers view the training session as an everlasting trip in hell, with a few notable exceptions who see the session as a chance to improve themselves. As a general rule, Hashira must take part in each other's training sessions. It is considered a win-win situation for both the Hashira and the Demon Slayers, as even the Hashira get to improve due to being constantly attacked by wave upon wave of juniors ranked lower than themselves. This training method has proven to be very effective in the Infinity Castle Arc where the majority of Demon Slayers were able to effectively kill Lower Rank-level demons regardless of their ranking. (RETIRED) Breathing Styles are swordsmanship styles that makes use of an esoteric breathing technique known as Total Concentration Breathing practiced and taught by members of the Demon Slayer Corps and are used in combat by Demon Slayers (later passed on as traditional dances post-time skip). ll known Breathing Styles currently taught within the Demon Slayer Corps are derived from Sun Breathing, the first one ever created. The majority of known Breathing Styles mimic a certain element of nature (i.e. flame, water and wind) and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities. The weapon attacks of Demon Slayers who use Breathing Styles are also longer ranged, possibly due to shockwaves or air pressure generated from their weapon itself when swinging and striking. New Breathing Styles are always being created to suit a Demon Slayer's combat needs, which results in new weapons being utilized in demon hunting (i.e. flails and whips). Such Breathing Styles embody a bigger variety of concepts, like animals, plants and emotions (i.e. serpents, flowers and love). When utilizing a Breathing Style, users automatically visualize themselves manipulating the subject behind their style, making it seem as if they were using magic, though those that are less apt and proficient in their style will visualize less of it than one who is. It is possible to mix different Breathing Styles if the user cannot master one particular Breathing Style alone in order to use the stronger aspects of different styles to compensate. Tanjiro, realizing that he could not master Water Breathing like Giyu Tomioka nor could he handle the strain of Hinokami Kagura, showed to be able to combine the two techniques together in order to have stronger strikes than when he used Water Breathing alone and move for longer periods of time than if he used Hinokami Kagura alone. He did this to save Hinatsuru from Gyutaro, and later used it once again during the Infinity Castle Arc to slay dozens of demons. Total Concentration Breathing is an advanced and esoteric breathing technique where a user inhales the maximum amount of oxygen within a specific breath pattern to raise their physical and mental prowess to their utmost limits. The effects include a plethora of enhanced physical and mental abilities, like superhuman physical characteristics (i.e. strength, speed, stamina, durability and agility), faster thought processes, maximizing concentration and hyper-information processing. Kyojuro Rengoku notes that they are many things that a mastery of Breathing can accomplish, and though it can't do everything, these things can help one become stronger than the day before. At a more advanced level, Total Concentration is also capable of slowing down the circulation of poison in the bloodstream and even clotting wounds from severe injuries. By focusing and raising the accuracy of one's Breathing, one can spread their sensitivity throughout one's body and detect and even heal hidden wounds they may have such as the bleeding of a ruptured blood vessel. During his fight with Kokushibo, Sanemi Shinazugawa was, in addition to controlling his muscles to prevent his organs from falling out, able to stop his bleeding from multiple lethal wounds by using his Breathing to near-instantly coagulate his blood, a feat Kokushibo believes should not be possible for a human. Tanjiro Kamado later showed another technique called Recovery Breathing, which, by taking a brief moment to focus and steady his breath, allows him to recover from fatigue and stiff muscles that prevent his body from moving after using Hinokami Kagura twice in a row. He used this after he had collapsed on the ground from using Hinokami Kagura to allow his body to move again and prevent himself from dying from Daki's attack. He later tried to perform it again to prevent himself from blacking out from exhaustion and lack of breath, but couldn't find a moment to do so due to the combined assault of Daki and Gyutaro. Total Concentration: Constant is a Total Concentration Breathing state during the morning, noon, and night, and even while asleep that advanced Demon Slayers, such as the Hashira, can constantly maintain. There is an immense difference in strength, speed, and stamina between someone who can maintain Total Concentration Breathing at all times and someone who cannot. Learning to maintain a constant state of Total Concentration Breathing requires tremendous effort, though, the skill itself is noted to be quite elementary despite the required effort. The training process involves blowing into a special type of super durable gourd. The objective is to blow into the gourd with enough strength to make the gourd break apart. As training progresses, the gourd is replaced by larger and larger variations of the same type of gourd. The largest known gourd is about the size of a chair. Beast (11 forms) - Inosuke Hashibira. The Demon Slayer Corps is an organization that has existed since ancient times, dedicating its existence to protecting humanity from demons. There are hundreds of Demon Slayers within the organization, however they are not officially recognized by the government. With Muzan Kibutsuji's demise and the near-extinction of the demon race, the Corps officially disbanded. In order to become a Demon Slayer, an individual must pass Final Selection, a test used as an entrance exam to join the Demon Slayer Corps. During this selection, examinees must survive for seven days on a mountain top infested with demons solely through the skills they have developed in training. Most nearly of Final Selection are trained by a cultivator of a Breathing Style and it is only when they are deemed a sufficient level of skill that they are allowed to enter. However, there is one exceptional case of a Demon Slayer who entered on their own volition without previous training. Candidates who complete the Final Selection are issued the standard uniform, as well as being given the opportunity to choose the ore for their special sword, which is designed to eliminate demons efficiently. Each new Demon Slayer is also assigned one of a rare species of talking bird for communication purposes. Mizunoto are roughly paid around 20,000 yen whereas Hashira are paid as much as they want. Members of the Demon Slayer Corps are separated into ten different ranks. From lowest rank to highest, these ranks are: Mizunoto → Mizunoe → Kanoto → Kanoe → Tsuchinoto → Tsuchinoe → Hinoto → Hinoe → Kinoto → Kinoe Once a Demon Slayer has fully settled into the organization, they are classified as a member of the lowest rank: Mizunoto. They must complete a variety of missions to ultimately climb the ranks and reach the highest Demon Slayer position: Kinoe. Following Final Selection, each swordsman has their rank inscribed on their hand through a process called "Wisteria Flower Engraving." As they continue to progress as a swordsman, they can check their rank by saying a password and flexing their arm to reveal their status.
