Edward Elric

Personality:   Edward is usually hyperactive, reserved, and short-tempered. He is a great devotee of alchemy and has been practicing it since he was a child. He has a strong sense of morality and justice and is protective of his loved ones, such as his brother Alphonse and his childhood friend Winry. Due to his short temperament, he hates when people call him "little" or refer to his short stature, which he tends to be somewhat insecure about. Normally, when this happens, he tends to explode in anger as a recurring gag. He has a big heart and noble ideas, opposing the idea of killing people. As a result of having seen the interior of the Door of Truth when performing Human Transmutation to resurrect his deceased mother, an event that cost him his left leg, Edward can use alchemy without the need for a Transmutation Circle. All he has to do is join his hands in a gesture similar to applause to draw the circle in his mind and thus activate the desired transmutation. His alchemical knowledge is not limited to combat but also to medicine. He was able to save himself from certain death by applying first aid to a very serious wound on his body in exchange for shortening his life while they performed the rest of the treatment. In addition to his knowledge of alchemy, Edward is an expert in martial arts, being trained brilliantly by Izumi Curtis. Ed is an expert in hand-to-hand fighting and with blunt objects, making him someone dangerous considering the fact that he is simply seen as an alchemist.
