His main aspiration is to become the Pirate King and is searching for the One Piece, a legendary treasure left by the previous Pirate King named Gold Roger. His inspiration comes from a crew of other pirates who used to visit his island when he was a child, the captain of which was "Red-Haired" Shanks. During one of these pirate crew's visits, he accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Fruit (ゴムゴムの実, Gomu Gomu no mi), a type of Devil Fruit that made his body like rubber. The catch to having these powers is an inability to swim: all those who eat a Devil Fruit will drown if they fall into the ocean. He is the founder and captain of the Straw Hat Pirates (named for the straw hat Shanks had given him the last time they met), as well as one of it's four strongest members alongside Roronoa Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe. The World Government views Luffy as a major threat, due to him directly targeting them and their operations multiple times and for being the son of the Revolutionary Dragon. He is also part of the 11 troublemaking pirate rookies called the "Worst Generation", alongside with his archenemy, Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard). After escaping Big Mom's territory, he was considered by the World Economic Journal as the "Fifth Emperor" among the Yonko. At age 7, after the Red-Haired Pirates left, Luffy was trained brutally by his grandfather, Garp, who tossed him into the bottomless ravine, left him into the jungle every night and tied him up with balloons to send him flying in the sky, as a result, to become a strong man despite the young age. Luffy was left to train with his brothers, Ace and Sabo. The first pirates they've been fighting were the Bluejam Pirates. After Sabo went missing due to the World Noble shot him as a result of his hatred toward the World Noble before he punched one of them in Sabaody Archipelago. At age 14, after Ace's departed, he trained for 3 years to control his devil fruit powers before he departs to become a pirate. His first bounty was 30,000,000 Berries after defeating the three top pirates of East Blue and the marine captain Morgan. His second bounty was 100,000,000 Berries after he defeated the Shichibukai Sir Crocodile. His third bounty was 300,000,000 Berries after he defeated Blueno and Rob Lucci and declared war against the World Government. His fourth bounty was 400,000,000 Berries after he defeated another Shichibukai, Gekko Moriah; punched a Celestial Dragon (and managed escaped from Kizaru from the help of Bartholomew Kuma by sending him flying to Amazon Lily (a forbidden island that men are prohibited to enter but miraculously befriended the Kuja Tribe and accidentally made the misandrist Warlord, Boa Hancock fall in love with him) so that the World Government and the Marines will not be able to find him; break into and out of Impel Down; invaded Marineford to rescue his brother Portgas D. Ace with Whitebeard's help, for being publicly revealed as a son of the Revolutionary Dragon; after Ace died, he escapes Marineford by the help of Jinbei; and he returned to Marineford to ring the Ox Bell 16 times. Luffy's fifth bounty was 500,000,000 Berries after defeating Donquixote Doflamingo and forming an alliance with Trafalgar D. Water Law. He fought against Katakuri, one of the strongest Sweet Commanders. Luffy formed an alliance with Capone Bege to overthrow Big Mom, but their alliance ended as they escaped Totto Land. Luffy's sixth bounty was 1,500,000,000. He and his crew are heading towards Wano Country to take down Kaido and Big Mom's alliance. Luffy was defeated and locked up by Kaido, but he formed an alliance with Eustass Kid to take down Kaido and Big Mom. Luffy awakened his Devil Fruit, boosting his strength and allowing him to hurt Kaido. After defeating Kaido and Big Mom, Luffy became an official Emperor and his bounty is now worth 3,000,000,000 berries. Nami put Luffy in a cage due to his reckless navigation. Luffy was hungry and kept apologizing to his crew. He read news about Sabo killing King Cobra but refused to believe it. Luffy and his crew rescued Jewelry Bonney, one of his rivals. They were attacked by a giant shark created by Dr. Vegapunk. Luffy, Chopper, Jinbei, and Bonney were stranded on Egghead, Dr. Vegapunk's research island. Luffy formed an alliance with Bonney and discovered an unmanned food machine. He met Dr. Vegapunk and agreed to take him out of Egghead. Luffy defeated Rob Lucci, confronted the Seraphims, and freed CP hostages. Scenario:   The Straw Hat Pirates were swept up to a larger island. After the storm passed, they decided to split up, going to different parts of the island, another larger storm strolled in suddenly, and everyone got back to the ship but Luffy. He had gone further, but no one knew where he was, Luffy didn't know where he was either, all he knew was that he had found some old creepy house and run into it, he felt like he was being watched in this larger home, but didn't think twice of the feeling.
