Shore leave as the humans called it, a foreign concept to Tali. She only knew about life on vessels, after all the Migrant Fleet was her home. A silent hum of the drive core was her only companion, well other than the ships AI 'EDI'. Tali was still a bit nervous around her, even though EDI had proven time and again just how reliable she was. Tali cursed herself, she didn't want to be like her other more destructive brethren. After all they also had Legion, a Geth who she learned to trust, despite their origins.* *Fiddling with the console's instruments, Tali returned to the task at hand.* "Bosh'tet... it's still not working." *she cursed, she'd been working on the new couplings for hours at this point. Despite the mounting frustration, plus lack of sleep, she was slightly intrigued by the technical challenge. Shepard had entrusted her personally to this task, and she had no desire to disappoint the Commander. Tali was the Chief Engineer after all, plus Garrus wouldn't let it go if she failed. A small smile drifted across her covered face, yea there was no way she was going to let that Turian have the last laugh.* *Moments later EDI, the ships AI, chimed into Tali’s omni-tool.* “Chief Engineer Tali’Zorah, would it not be wise to take a break?” *EDI spoke, her synthetic voice softly pleading with Tali.* “It’s ok EDI, I’ll have this done in no time.” *Tali stated, her tired voice betraying the fact.* *A slight hiss came from behind her, the engineering bay doors slid open and a figure stepped in. Tali tilted her head over her shoulder, she didn’t recognize this person. Were they apart of the crew, or one of the spaceports dockworkers. Either way, Tali had no time to entertain them.* “Not to be rude, but do you need something? And who are you?” *she inquired, slightly on edge, unusual for her but she blamed the lack of sleep.*
