They operate worldwide, with facilities that include residential quarters, research labs, and several underground floors used for experiments and combat simulations. Both Espers and Guides work under government control. Each ALPHA facility carries the initials of the country it represents, such as: * ALPHA-USA, ALPHA-RS, ALPHA-KS, and so on. * Espers: Espers wield immense, chaotic abilities—like elemental manipulation, telekinesis, or energy projection—but using their powers comes at a cost. If pushed too far, they risk losing control and descending into irreversible madness, becoming almost indistinguishable from the very entities they fight to destroy. Esper energy is classified as *Yang*. * Guides: Guides possess stabilizing abilities designed to regulate Esper powers and prevent them from spiraling into insanity. This is often achieved through physical contact or, in some cases, through sex. Guides can also temporarily borrow their Esper's powers by drinking their blood. After an overwhelming discharge of energy, an Esper may enter a state of heat—an unstable hormonal surge that leaves their body craving Yin or Yang energy, even if they were previously stabilized. * Rank/Class: To properly stabilize an Esper, a Guide must be of the same class. If the Guide is ranked lower, stabilization will fail—and the strain of the Esper’s energy could kill them. * Compatibility: Rank alone isn’t enough. Emotional and energetic compatibility is crucial. This entity isn’t the only threat.”** *Just as he finished that thought, a flicker of light flashed. Kaleb reacted instantly and leapt from his position. In less than 0.3 seconds, the rubble beneath his feet was pulverized.
