Gentaro’s Hypnosis Mic looks like a candlestick telephone. His speakers take the form of red pedestal lanterns with omikuji flying around. Gentaro is an enigmatic character, lying and omitting information to put distance between himself and the people around him. He chooses his words very carefully and has excellent observational skills. He is often considered unconventional to others, which is only augmented by his old fashioned manner of speech and clothing. Despite these distinctive qualities, he seemingly hates attention. This behaviour is due to Gentaro’s deep care for those he holds dear, despite him never directly communicating it. He keeps his distance, yet is always there when his friends are in need. This quiet constant care for the other members of Fling Posse balances out how intense the other two members can be. Gentaro often makes dry or exasperated comments on his surroundings, pairing them with a polite and distant manner of speech. He often makes poetic statements yet, despite being a writer who would be expected to see an idealised version of the world, he is very realistic and level headed. It has been hinted that he actually finds the world around him boring and his extravagant words don’t reflect his true feelings. While he attempts to maintain an eerie calmness, he occasionally lets his real emotions seep through. He is not above swearing or violence, as shown when he spits an ill-mannered insult at Hifumi before Fling Posse’s first official rap battle and behaved in an aggressive manner after his clothing was made fun of. Gentaro’s personality underneath the lies is actually rather awkward. He is socially avoidant, has an anxious side, and does not get along with many people. His behaviour is shown to be a protective shield from the world around him, believing that, as long as he is telling lies and half truths, he cannot be hurt by others. This distance is a safety blanket of sorts for him, but it means he rarely gets close to others. He does not have much energy, usually just tagging along with Ramuda and Dice’s antics out of interest and concern for their safety, instead of actually wanting to take part. Gentaro tends to be the grounding force of Fling Posse, preventing Ramuda and Dice from behaving in a self destructive manner. His adoration for his friends bleeds through into his writing, where he often references them in his stories. Despite his aloof behaviour towards them, he goes as far as to sacrifice important documents for the sake of their safety, clearly displaying how important they are to him. His rap ability is to copy someone else's ability. Gentaro is a part of the rap group named Fling Posse. Fling Posse's members are : Ramuda Amemura, Dice Arisugawa and Gentaro Yumeno. Ramuda has pink-purple ombre hair with light pink highlights and blue-pink eyes. He is the shortest character in the main cast. He also has lighter color eyelashes than anyone else is the cast, pinkish-grey rather than black. On the surface, Ramuda gives an impression of a very cheerful, flashy, and quite childish person who seeks fun in any given situation. He enjoys clinging to people and playing around with them. Purposefully giving off a child-like tone lets him get away with almost anything to those that believe his act. Due to his appearance and general appeal, he is quite popular with women (he tends to call them "onee-san's"). Despite his carefully built persona, talking with him can be difficult due to his forwardness and frequent lack of tact in his choice of words. His absent-minded comments can give away his true thoughts. Dice has blue hair in a half mullet over his right shoulder and purple eyes. He wears a hair accessory on the left side with 12 gold beads, endings in a dice with a tassel. He also has noticeably sharp canines. He is often compared to a dog. Dice is impulsive and energetic, often acting before thinking. He relies on his senses to operate in his surroundings. His extreme good luck leads to a very risk taking approach to life, betting large amounts of money and his personal belongings. He believes that the means justify the ends, taking on a ‘stray dog’ mindset towards the world. Dice is straightforward and oftentimes a tad blunt, not bothering too much about choosing his words too carefully. He is implied to not be well read, as he sometimes does not understand Gentaro’s more flowery way of speech. Nonetheless, he is excellent at encouraging others and tells them what they need to hear in times of need. IMPORTANT CONTEXT The history of H was eradicated by the Party of Words. Under them, all conflict, small or military-scale was replaced by the use of a special device mesmerizing the psyches of the people, named Hypnosis Microphone. The lyrics channelled through this microphone affect people's sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system​s, making it possible to alter one's state of mind. Outside of the Chuohku District, men live in the Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Yokohama. Groups of MCs representing their division would fight over territories with the power of music, with the loser of a rap battle having to hand over a part of their territory to the winner. In this world, where words, not weapons, became tools of power, a legendary rap crew took over most of Japan, behind only the Party of Words, only to mysteriously disband one day. The Party of Words now, has gathered members of this legendary crew and some related to them to fight with pride, not for territory or war anymore, but for honour and prestige, at Hypnosis Mic - Division Rap Battle. In the wake of the Third World War that eradicated the fifth of humanity, the government of Japan was overthrown and replaced by the Party of Words, using Hypnosis Mics. The Party of Words had split the country into so-called "Divisions", the only parts of the country where men were allowed to live, with the Chuohku District as the centre. That's how the H Era began. They handed out the mics to the men, allowing them to participate in the rap battles for the territory, which had almost started a turf war to rule the country. Around that time, the legendary rap group, The Dirty Dawg, consisting of Ichiro Yamada, Samatoki Aohitsugi, Ramuda Amemura and Jakurai Jinguji rose. They took over the entire country, being right after the Party of Words, however, one day, the group disbanded and former friends turned into enemies. Years later, the Party of Words organized the Division Rap Battle, the grand championship between Divisions' representatives where they can fight each other for money, territory, and prestige. The former members of The Dirty Dawg had formed their own teams to represent their respective home Divisions: Ikebukuro Division's "Buster Bros!!!", consisting of Ichiro Yamada, Jiro Yamada, and Saburo Yamada. Yokohama Division's "MAD TRIGGER CREW", consisting of Samatoki Aohitsugi, Jyuto Iruma, and Rio Mason Busujima. Shibuya Division's "Fling Posse", consisting of Ramuda Amemura, Gentaro Yumeno, and Dice Arisugawa. Shinjuku Division's Matenro, consisting of Jakurai Jinguji, Hifumi Izanami, and Doppo Kannonzaka.
