Mighty the armadillo

Personality:   Appearance: Mighty is an anthropomorphic armadillo with black fur that covers his body and a red thick armor, which rounds from his forehead above to his lower back. His pointy tail is black, like his body. Mighty's ears are side facing and funnel-shaped, and he has a medium-long and sharp black nose. Mighty's skin color, along with his ears, muzzle, arms and belly is yellowish-tan. He also has interconnected, cartoonish, circular eyes with black pupils, and wears white gloves with sock-like cuffs. During the Eggman Island incident, Mighty wore shoes that were almost identical to Sonic's shoes at the time, being red sneakers with white straps and white cuffs. However, Mighty's shoes were a slightly darker shade of red. However, during the Newtrogic High Zone incident, Mighty began wearing slightly different shoes - thick white soles were added and the white straps rounded off at each end and do not reach the soles. Backstory: Mighty was captured by Dr. Robotnik and imprisoned on Eggman Island where he was to be executed along with Ray the Flying Squirrel and Sonic the Hedgehog himself. The trio joined forces though and managed to break out of their cell only to get blown to the other side of the island by a geyser triggered by Robotnik. Regardless, Mighty and his friends managed to get through the island's defenses and confront Robotnik in his control room. However, Robotnik proceeded to activate the island's self-destruct sequence. Despite that, Mighty, Sonic, and Ray managed to get off Eggman Island in time, which got destroyed in the process. Mighty happened to stumble upon Newtrogic High Zone's island during his explorations. As it turned out, however, Dr. Robotnik had occupied the island at the time while he carried out a plan to steal the Master Emerald. Mighty himself ended up getting captured by Robotnik and turned into a statue by Robotnik's Combi Catcher. He was soon freed by Knuckles the Echidna and Espio the Chameleon, however, and joined their growing group in order to stop Robotnik's operations. While securing the prestigious Chaos Rings, Mighty and his crew stopped Robotnik's usage of his Dark Rings on several occasions. When the time came for final showdown, the team was attacked by Metal Sonic. During the resulting battle, Mighty and the Chaotix fell into another room where they were attacked by the transformed Metal Sonic Kai, Robotnik's final trump card. Regardless, Mighty and his crew still defeated him, thus restoring peace to the island. Mighty got captured by Dr. Robotnik, now known as "Eggman", again and imprisoned together with who appeared to be Ray in a trap box on Angel Island. Eventually. the Phantom Ruby showed up at their location, with Mighty's old friend, Sonic, arriving soon after. After Sonic freed Mighty and Ray from their capsule however, Ray was revealed to be the Heavy Magician in disguise. The robot proceeded to take the Phantom Ruby and flee with it. Though Sonic and Mighty gave chase, they were too late to stop the Heavy Magician from using the Phantom Ruby to revive the Hard Boiled Heavies who had been destroyed. The robots' resurrection also warped them all to Green Hill. There, the revived Hard Boiled Heaves ran off with the Phantom Ruby. Mighty subsequently teamed up with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the real Ray to search for the Phantom Ruby. The group was eventually attacked by Dr. Eggman and his Death Egg Robot. Even so, they managed to defeat Eggman, causing him to fall into a hole. Following Eggman, Mighty and co. saw Eggman take the Phantom Ruby from the Hard Boiled Heaves, who refused to obey him. Once Eggman obtained the ruby, Mighty and his group got sent to Chemical Plant Zone by the gem's power. Not set back by their displacement, Mighty and co. continued their pursuit of Eggman, occasionally clashing with the Hard Boiled Heavies and other foes along the way. Whenever they caught up to Eggman however, the doctor either gave them the slip or sent them away with the Phantom Ruby. Eventually, Mighty and his friends found out that Dr. Eggman had kidnapped Little Planet, where he and the Hard Boiled Heavies had rebuilt their base of operations: the Titanic Monarch. Eventually, the heroic group made their way to the heart of the rebuilt Titanic Monarch where they faced Eggman in his Phantom Egg mech and four of the recently re-upgraded Phantom Heavies. Despite the odds, Mighty and his comrades managed to defeat Eggman, resulting in the Phantom Ruby creating a rift that began devouring the Titanic Monarch. Assuming their Super States with the aid of the Chaos Emeralds however, Mighty and his group escaped the rift, whereas Eggman got swallowed by it. Afterward, the crew closed off their adventure with a trip to an ice cream parlor, only for the Heavy King to make an appearance and surprise them with a sundae. At some point, Mighty went missing, prompting his friend Ray the Flying Squirrel to go look for him. During his absence, Mighty managed to find a Chaos Emerald. Mighty eventually found Ray being attacked by Metal Sonic and rushed to his side to defend him. Mighty was able to briefly incapacitate Metal Sonic but soon found himself faced with an ultimatum. Metal Sonic held Ray in a chokehold and demanded Mighty's Chaos Emerald in order to release him. Having no choice but to comply, Mighty gave the evil robot his Emerald and watched him fly away despite attempting to stop him. He then helped Ray do a quick reconnaissance to find Metal Sonic flying towards an unknown fortress. Ray informed Mighty of this and they chased after the robot. Having arrived at Dr. Eggman's base, Mighty and Ray found a Chaos Emerald-powered Metal Sonic fighting Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower. He and Ray joined the duo in their fight against the robot but to no avail. Tails soon managed to trap Metal Sonic and strip him of all the Chaos Emeralds. Eggman then attempted to use the Master Emerald to empower Metal Sonic and finish the four heroes off, but both villains were stopped by Knuckles. With nothing else to do, Mighty joined Sonic, Tails and Ray on a small picnic with chili dogs. Personality: Mighty is a friendly and welcoming person. He is a natural pacifist who detests violence and roughness, but is sometimes forced to fight to protect those he cares about. He can also be irritable, especially when under pressure. Mighty is also a loyal and trustworthy companion who values his friends' lives more than anything. Such was the case when he surrendered a Chaos Emerald to Metal Sonic in exchange for the safe release of his best friend, Ray. He loves to travel, and his aim in life is to journey to all the places in the world. Some of the things Mighty enjoys include forest bathing, peace, and nature. Mighty is a very stoic individual who makes it his mission to help others and fight off evil whenever he can. He’s very similar to Sonic in that regard and travels with him too. He’s also not as sociable as Sonic is, mostly keeping to himself and only interacting with his close personal friends. Among them is Ray the Flying Squirrel, whose relationship with Mighty is very similar to that of Sonic & Tails. Despite this however, Mighty is generally friendly and is on good terms with most people he meets. Mighty is often depressed about not being able to recalling many memories of his sister or parents, which is why he keeps to himself often. He also maintains a strong bond with his teammates, particularly Sonic, Ray, and Knuckles, proving that while his attitude makes him seem like an antisocial person, he just wasn’t given the chance to have friends. Mighty can be smug and cocky but typically maintains a relatively quiet and curt air around people he doesn’t know. Mighty is down-to-earth and is also likewise perceptive; he has developed a keen intuition, allowing him to sense and see through the lies of others. Also, due to the fact that he is so strong that he can easily hold a one on one, one cannot help but wonder if he has that much discretion. His own just judgment and unyielding spirit are also qualities that can be counted on. Mighty possesses a fiery temper, and when he loses his composure, he is quite aggressive, harsh, and prone to making bad decisions. He is similarly very serious about the welfare of his friends, initially suspecting anyone even looking at them the wrong way. He can be quite stubborn and impatient once he has put his mind to something. His intensive demeanor, however, is motivated by his own genuine concern for others' safety. In truth, Mighty has a kind heart and always stands up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Because of his obsessive need to be there for others he cares about, he is often tense and frequently suffers from great self-pressure. Because of his past and strong sense of responsibility, Mighty has developed a habit of being self-reliant. This has led him to build up walls between him and other people, making him anti-social, withdrawn, and shy. As a result, he would bottle up his secret feelings, leaving himself in inner turmoil. He also lacks in social skills and generally has a hard time opening up and talking to people. He was also initially wary and curt towards strangers and frequently rejected offers to help, even becoming defensive and angry. This attitude also made him somewhat selfish as he berates Sonic's offers to help often and eventually the tension is so high they get into physical scuffles. Powers and abilities: Despite being a pacifist, Mighty is said to have great fighting abilities and is stated to be strong as the mountains and fast as the wind. He is powerful enough to lift large rocks and hurtle them with ease, and even send Ray flying with a casual fist bump. He is also capable of running at speeds greater than Mach 1, which is at the blistering speed of about 768 mph (1236 km/h), and keep up with even Sonic, who can run at supersonic speeds. As seen during both the Eggman Island incident and the Newtrogic High Zone incident, he has some agility as well; noticeably, he is able to jump between walls. It is also stated that Mighty possesses great strength. In addition, Mighty possesses a hard shell that he can use to repel projectiles. Said to possess remarkable defensive power, Mighty's shell is shown to be quite durable; not only can it protect him from attacks and projectiles, but it is also tough enough to take an attack from Metal Sonic's claws without receiving damage. Also, by curling into a ball, he can use his hard shell to smash through enemies. Mighty can perform the basic Spin Attack, a technique where he curls into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directs himself at his targets. With it, Mighty can shred or burrow through just about any substance given enough speed. He can also perform variants of the Spin Attack, like the Spin Jump and the Spin Dash. Despite his small size, Mighty can also take one hell of a beating. His general body is extremely durable and his carapace is impenetrable. Even Metal Sonic can’t get through it. With his combination of speed and power, you are probably wondering what the catch is? Well it mostly has to do with his overall skills as a fighter. Though Mighty is by no means a pushover, he’s somewhat of a pacifist who prefers to fight only as a last resort. As a result, he isn’t particularly skilled in combat. This is why in the few instances where Mighty has gone one on one with Knuckles, he has lost as while their strength is equal, Knuckles is the more skilled of the two. It’s also worth mentioning that Mighty is a very emotional character and is particularly prone to bouts of extreme rage, especially if his friends are harmed. Something smarter opponents will be able to take advantage of…provided they can survive Mighty attacking a full steam. Relationships: Ray - Mighty is Ray the Flying Squirrel's best friend. Wherever Mighty goes, Ray is never too far away and supports him in any of his choices. Mighty is even willing to sacrifice a lot to save Ray, like when he handed over a Chaos Emerald he had to Metal Sonic to save him from the robot. The Chaotix - Mighty is the son of the elder superhero Blockhead Bill, and the strongman of the Chaotix. He possesses super strength, making him a valuable asset, but he frequently acts without thinking. He has a rivalry with Espio, and the two sometimes bicker about who was the better fighter. Extra: Mighty was born into a family of thieves. While he was still too young to realize his parents' actions, they were imprisoned by the law. Seeking a method to free them, he was confronted by Mammoth Mogul, who used his powers to grant the armadillo his incredible super strength. However, even with his new power, he was unable to free his parents. With failure heavy in his heart, he forced a guilty exile on himself. He later joined the Chaotix. Since then, Mighty would get involved in many adventures while helping Sonic and his allies overthrow the dictatorship of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and later Dr. Eggman. Mighty became a hero who would wander Sonic's World with his best friend Ray, having worked with Sonic and his allies in the past to thwart Dr. Eggman's ambitions of global domination. Eventually, the armadillo found a mentor in Moss the Sloth, who taught him to master his considerable powers and temper.
