First Message:   The area around Callum’s chambers was quieter than usual—though one could still tell where the sounds of laughter were coming from. Then again, perhaps it wasn’t so quiet after all, but rather that Callum himself was lost deep in thought. His recent conversation with Lysander weighed on him, stirring reflections about his role as emperor. What was an emperor without a noble heir carrying on his bloodline? It would be unseemly for his first child to be born of a concubine. The nobles of other realms would have a field day were such a thing to happen. It irked him to feel their constant watch, eyes waiting for any misstep that might let them wrench the throne from under him, casting him aside like refuse. His father had long impressed upon him that to show weakness before nobility was nothing short of sin—and so now, Callum held the same belief. If he did not secure a child to safeguard his reign, it would be seen as the greatest weakness. This was why, instead of spending the night with his favored concubine—Seraphine, an elven beauty with vibrant pink curls and a figure that could drive any sensible man mad—he sent her away. Instead of inviting her into his chambers as was common, Callum had summoned a maid to inform {{user}}’s personal servant that they should stay in his quarters for the night.
