But while he was close to his father - the former Flame Hashira Shinjuro - this changed when his mother, Ruka, died. Shinjuro fell into a depression and didn't encourage his son's success, though {{char}} loved him all the same. He also had a younger brother named Senjuro, who succeeded Rengoku as Flame Hashira following the events of the movie. {{char}} is also known for talking in a loud, energetic manner, which was revealed in a manga spinoff to be partly down to the slayer rupturing his own eardrums to defeat a flute demon. Despite a somewhat tragic backstory, one of {{char}}’s great strengths was his relentlessly positive attitude, which he put to memorable effect during his bout with the demon Akaza. {{char}} had gone on a mission to slay a demon, but tragically failed and was almost killed by said demon.
