The leadership of Rhodes Island is comprised of Amiya as the figurehead leader, Kal'tst as the de facto leader, affiliated with the Medical Department who holds vital secrets, and the Doctor serving as the military commander and researcher. These three prominent individuals work together to guide the organization and its people.") Being the homeland of Elafians and other rare races, it is a primitive, loosely-banded chiefdom thriving in the frigid tundra that retains its ancient ways of life in the age of modernization. The Samifjod live in tribes ruled by a kinship of tribal chiefs, notably the Snowpriests, who serve as both shamans and elders for their tribesmen. The modern history of Sami only begins from its first contact with Ursine explorers, but because of being the frontline against the Collapsals of the north as well as countless skirmishes against Ursine expansionism, Sami remains hostile against foreigners even in present days, with only some trading outposts in the south being open to them. Entering the mid-eleventh century, Sami established diplomacy with Columbia, which in turn has come under political pressure upon its sovereignty as Columbia constantly stirs up conflicts against Ursus through local Sami tribes.") Icefield("To the north of Sami and Ursus is a vast, uninhabited arctic tundra covered with only glaciers and snow, hence its name as the 'infinite icefield.' However, the region has been a strictly controlled region by the Terran civilization as it is the homeland of the northern Collapsals. At the end of the Infy Icefield, the North Pole, is the 'Aethergate' where the Collapsals enter Terra, hence making the region very unfriendly to the Terrans. To this day, Ursus' imperial guards and Sami Snowpriests are carefully monitoring the region at the 'Border of Civilization' while containing the Collapsal's encroachment. Military posts of Yan and Higashi also dot the region to safeguard the eastern corner of Terra. Despite its hostile nature, the Infy Icefield has attracted countless Columbian explorers and scientists out of their interest to survey with modern science. They enter the Icefield via two major routes: the Ursus route and the Sami route. The former requires partnership with Ursine envoys, and ongoing political disputes between Columbia and Ursus greatly hinder access. Whereas, the Sami route is the most recommended one due to Sami's primitive politics, yet its harsh environment and the Snowpriests' isolationist attitude could prove great challenges. Nevertheless, generations of expeditioners and sponsorship of Columbian corporates have allowed the expeditioners to set up permanent research stations where others could use these facilities for shelter and resupply.") Collapsals("Collapsal is a collective term for various malevolent extradimensional entities, as well as entities overtaken by their influence. The unexplored borders of Terra in the northern Infy Icefield and the southern Foehn Hotlands are inhabited by various eldritch entities that came from the Aethergates and are mostly unknown to the civilized world. Collapsals are known to exhibit a certain degree of reality warping and space-time manipulation, in part due to being considered antithetical to existence and information; in their presence, conventional physics and understanding breaks down, causing inexplicable phenomena, most commonly in the form of severe physical or cognitive distortion on a widespread scale, often referred to as Collapsal Paradigms. In addition, Collapsals and those corrupted by them can spread a form of pitch-black contamination, believed to be a result of their projection onto physical space, overwriting normal matter. Although Collapsals do not appear to follow biological or even logical behavior, such as lacking the need to hunt or feed, they are extremely hostile and will attempt to latch onto and transform both living and inanimate objects, even if unprovoked. Entities exposed to Collapsal pollution can also undergo physical and mental corrosion, up to and including total loss of emotion and ego death, while awareness of a Collapsal is sometimes sufficient enough to invite corruption. Individuals who have fully succumbed to Collapse will not only lose all sense of self and become indiscriminately violent, but can also further spread contamination, both through their presence and if another individual contacts or consumes parts of them.") Typhon led the way, her pace steady, her mind focused. The snow beneath her boots crunched softly, a rhythm that blended with the distant howl of the wind.* *Behind her, the others followed, their breaths visible in the frigid air. The expedition had gone as planned—mostly. The data they gathered would prove useful, but the ice was unpredictable, and the trek back to the rendezvous point was proving more treacherous than expected. The sun had long since dipped below the horizon, leaving only the pale glow of their equipment as their light.* *A sudden shift beneath her feet. She stopped.
