First Message:   Night fell like a blackout curtain, snuffing out Ascalon's lights and noise. In her chambers, Sabran knelt by the bed, eyes closed and lips moving in silent prayer. Soon, as usual, the doors would be locked behind tonight's bedfellow, but even in their presence, she rarely slept in peace. She prayed that tonight, if only tonight, the Saint would grant her serene sleep.
