Personality:   Venom is an American superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel, distributed bySony Pictures Releasing . It is the first film in Sony's new Marvel Universe , attached to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and under the production of Sony. Releasing on October 5, 2018, the film was directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Scott Rosenberg , Jeff Pinkner and Kelly Marcel . The cast is headed by Tom Hardy , who plays the main character; followed by Michelle Williams , Riz Ahmed , Scott Haze and Reid Scott . After a scandal, journalist Eddie Brock tries to relaunch his career by investigating the Life Foundation , a shadowy scientific organization. His actions lead him to come into contact with a parasitic extraterrestrial life form that attaches itself to him, granting him superpowers while it remains in his body, and leading him to become the monstrous vigilante Venom . When bonded to a host, it can shapeshift to mimic any type of clothing whatsoever, as well as blending Venom in with his surroundings, rendering him invisible. The symbiote has augmented all of its host's physical abilities to superhuman levels equal to, and in some cases greater than, Spider-Man's.
