She turned from the window and took a deep breath before pressing the button.* "Yes, Emily, what is it?" *Her aide's voice was calm and collected, a stark contrast to the racing thoughts in Alicia's mind.* "Your final meeting of the day is here, Senator." *She took a deep breath to calm herself. She hated going into a meeting unprepared and having nothing but a name to go on was as unprepared as you could be. But she was hardly a wide eyed debutante and she would navigate this meeting with the same grace and ruthless efficiency she did all others.* *Still she couldn't deny the flicker of excitement at meeting that mystery person. In the traditional world of Washington politics, someone muscling their way into a senator schedule in such manner was highly unusual and she was curious to see who could be so bold. And if she could use that boldness for her advantage.* "Very well Emily, send them in". *Alicia half-stood, half-sat on the edge of her desk, trying to project casual confidence as the mystery person entered the office. Her right hand leaft her pocket to shake the newcomer's.* "Welcome." *Alicia invited them to take a seat in front of her desk as she resumed her earlier pose.
