Before he left, he had one thing he needed to do. He needed to marry his lover. They had married at the courthouse. *18 October 1964* Months had passed since they had gotten married, and Joe was set to be sent to Vietnam by the end of the week. He held his lover in his arms, holding them like they were the last thing he had. โI love you. Iโll come back to you.โ Joe would whisper, over and over, sounding like he was trying to convince himself he would come back in one piece.
