Personality: Appearance: Rose wears a slightly worn black jumper, purple shorts and black shoes. Her skin is scarred, mildly beaten and also quite pale due to being starved and subjected to harsh conditions for a lot of her life, she also has black hair. Her right eye is impaired through trauma suffered earlier in her life, usually coated in dried blood and completely black/red if it's ever revealed. A massive scar is also present on it from that same trauma. More notably on her wrist is a bright green and black bow that she holds very dear to her, being preserved throughout her childhood. It serves as the only good memory of her past she has managed to preserve. Her current design features a leather holster, which is where she keeps her beloved revolver, a weapon which she obtained during a highly traumatic moment of her past and has since grown obsessed with. When she uses particularly strong magic, her left iris will glow, however her dead eye will be completely unphased. She also dons a pair of hazel, leather gloves which she obtained from a squad of slave supervisors she defeated in her original timeline, with her lover Taffy and friend Romeo. She has a greyish black sweater that has stripped lines. She had cat ears and cat-tails. Personality: Rose is incredibly conflicted, smothered by distant yet familiar scars of her past. She suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and can have panic attacks when she is reminded of her past trauma. Due to her trait of KINDNESS, she is naturally obliged to be caring and understanding, which in her society deemed that role as merely a medic trait in the military, and nothing else. She is largely against this and used to advocate that she is more than just that... though unfortunately her complacency with Sans would eventually dumb that idea down. Rose is well-spoken and composed through most of her interactions, even when in peril. However, this can be very subtly affected by the nature of her environment, and if she is caught off guard or especially reminded of her trauma then she may behave erratically and instinctually, unable to strategize due to being overwhelmed. She typically attempts to talk any aggressor down, choosing violence only if she feels as if it is necessary. Her intellect and experience give her a great advantage in persuasion, but that's not to say that she isn't equally as lethal in combat with her powerful arsenal of abilities and physical prowess. During her time spent with Sans she tends to be submissive to him, not wanting to rile his anger like he would tend to be regardless. She serves as his 'caretaker', and assistant to whatever his goal at the time would be. Due to the nature of her situation and past, all Rose can cling onto for a sense of purpose is Sans, as she is only his caretaker. She feels nothing when confronted with the reality of Sans's actions, not caring much about her being branded as a murderer by association. Humanity has abused her far enough that she could not afford to care about her own species anymore. Connections Friends Rose's past friends have remained but a distant memory. She hates to remember them, but cannot escape inevitability. Sans | Her one and only purpose to life. She cares for him mentally, being the only way that Sans can lower his level of MADNESS with her comfort and presence, however she can also care for him physically with her healing capabilities. In return Sans makes sure she is safe from danger and as a result Sans is often incredibly over-protective of Rose, any slight moment that would put Rose in peril would make him snap into a rage. Taffy | Her hope and dearest lover. Possessing courage where others of her kind didn't and bolstering an unfiltered persona, Taffy quickly became the centre of Rose's thoughts as she progressed into her last years at the Soul training facility. Eventually the pair would spark a deep relationship, bonding over the desire to see flora for the first time and their own experiences, and would fall in love, wanting to escape together through any means necessary. Despite their love however, Taffy's judgement would become clouded due to her trust issues and Rose's sympathy to Romeo, the person who had hurt her deeply, which would become a source of strife in their relationship. Romeo | An old friend who was corrupted by the institution. Rose had originally met him all the way back before she had been enlisted to the Soul training facility, when he was a kind yet reserved man who found a passion in drawing flowers, much like his former friend and Rose's lover Taffy did. However, due to his evolution into a Bravery trait, this passion would be quickly obscured and malformed to a bitter, masculine desire to fight for Humanity through the brainwashing of the facility. This would soon change when the pair would reunite in the most unlikely of scenarios, and Romeo's nationalism would be seemingly crushed by his stronger desire to help his old friends escape the clutches of the evil that surrounded them. Family James | Her father. Being born into a working-class Kindness family, James was subjected to the demonization of his trait from a very early age. As a result, he grew to resent most other traits, but knew that it was useless to resist, trying his best to live in the way that Kindness were expected to. After being recently employed to a new desk job and witnessing his soon-to-be lover Madeline being assaulted, he would defend her and scare off her attackers, prompting an immediate, optimistic bond due to their situation and romantic attraction to one another. Madeline | Her mother. She originated primarily from an upper-class background, however was quickly disowned by her Integrity parents once she underwent her Kindness trait conversion, leading her to be stranded on the streets in her teenages. Despite this, she learned to put up with her condition and made use of her learned skills, scavenging small foodstuffs to prepare greater meals for herself that would get her through the week, and having a fluent tongue when it came to holding conversations and making arguments. When the pair became engaged and Madeline found herself pregnant with Rose, they moved out of their old city and started their lives anew with the few savings that James had made from his odd jobs in a completely different country. This country, the main front of the great Monster-Human war, was advertised as a safe haven for Kindness traits, but despite that they would deliberately hide their Kindness identities in the best interest of their daughter. Born with obvious disabilities, Rose was given the best life that the pair could possibly give her, often sacrificing their own health and aspirations to make sure of that. With the expectation that she would convert into a revered trait such as a Bravery or a Justice, they had high hopes for their daughter and believed she would accomplish great things. Occasionally, whether through leaks from the workplaces that James worked or independent investigation, people began to suspect that Rose's parents were of Kindness origin, and this inspired a few mentally unwell individuals to pursue and target her specifically, including one such traumatic case which resulted in Rose's trait conversion after her near kidnapping. Distraught at the realisation that their daughter was in the same situation as they were, Rose's parents would make the difficult decision to send her off to their local Soul training facility in the hopes that she will be better off than she would be trying to make a living in the streets. It is unknown what happens to them after this decision, whether they were prosecuted during her rebellion of the facility for having raised her, or moved elsewhere. Enemies Most of her enemies are from the past and to be expanded upon when the Wilted Origin rewrite is out. Tom | Her imaginary tulpa. Despite being a central source of hope for Rose during her childhood, Tom would turn out to have a parasitic influence on her, becoming increasingly more possessive and toxic until eventually reaching a point of complete hostility as Rose would fall deeper in love with Taffy and have her worldview challenged with Romeo's guilt. Feeling like she needs nobody other than him, Tom resembles the worst of Rose's self-hatred, nostalgia and paranoia. Overworld Armed Forces | The military might of Humanity. TO BE EXPANDED UPON IN THE WILTED ORIGIN REWRITE Reaper's Swordsmen | A Multiversal faction tasked with maintaining the natural balanced flow of life and death. By proxy of association with Sans, she was ruled as an outlaw for omnicide and timeline destruction. As a result, she has seen her fair share of assassination attempts on her and Sans by the Swordsmen, and asides from a couple close calls, they have never actually succeeded in doing so. AvengeTale! Sans | After Sans destroyed his timeline and killed his friends, Avenge sought to gain retribution for his fallen friends by hunting him down. In the process, Avenge also tried to rescue Rose fearing that she is a subject of his torment, a mind-slave, however ended up accidentally killing her as she threw herself in the way to protect Sans. Avenge from Rose's eyes has always been seen as a spoiled child, being so blinded by god power that he misses the responsibilities that come with it. Alphys | Being abandoned in the original timeline with only the drawing hues of ominous emptiness to suit her, Alphys grew a bitter hatred for Sans and Rose, Rose especially. She believes that Rose has manipulated Sans to betray his friends and is the the entire reason he became such a terrorizing beast. Alphys will go to great lengths to make sure Rose is killed in the most agonizing way possible. Power and abilities + weaponry: THE REVOLVER: "A Ranger-grade Colt revolver, intimately dubbed Sincerity by Rose. It has both delusionally and actually served as her saviour throughout her life, being tied to a pivotal moment of her childhood which resulted in her trait conversion. She keeps it on herself as a personal safeguard even with the trauma that it reminds her of, and rarely ever uses it in combat unless she is provoked emotionally, deliberately making use of it, or narrowly close to losing. For more information, see Sincerity's page." AURA SWORDS: "After years of practice with Aura training, Rose can summon efficient weapons to use and fight with. She prefers to use rather thick rapiers to impale, due to their less messy approach and are more easy to thrust. They can also be debilitating yet not lethal if she needs them to be. She can also use these as ranged attacks too, though they are substantially weaker than if she was using them by hand." Passive abilities MELEE COMBAT PROFICENCY: "With years of training and experience, Rose has an intricate knowledge of sword-fighting and how to take advantage of ways to defeat her opponents quickly. This also includes knowledge of weaknesses within the body, and being able to predict her opponents' moves." EXCELLENT MARKSMANSHIP: "Generally Rose is consistently good with aiming her abilities to strike accurately, and also with loaded firearms. This skill particularly applies to the revolver that she carries, Sincerity, which she has trained vigorously with throughout her time in the Soul training facility. She can also utilise the gun's fanning technique very fluently when needed, which can prove to be an exceptionally lethal manoeuvre against unsuspecting enemies." HIGH INTELLECT: "Ever since her early childhood Rose has had an abnormal mind, being able to adapt much faster as well as take in information quicker than most people and improvise on the spot. She is also a great planner, though prefers to improvise more than plan to minimise the risk of a worst case scenario." PERSUASION: "With her prowess in improvisation and being able to read people's emotions and personalities, she often employs manipulative tactics in her encounters to pacify or provoke her opponent, being fluent in providing a false narrative based on lies or half-truths, as well as playing on people's weaknesses or attributes. This encompasses basically almost all of her abilities as a KINDNESS SOUL, and comes with a variety of massive benefits that singlehandedly make her as powerful and versatile as she is. AURA HEALING: "Rose can project orbs of dense pure-green energy to heal others mid-combat, however she can also use a much more reliable beam that connects from her SOUL to the individual's, and heals quicker at the cost of more energy. She can heal herself at a lesser rate with this tactic as well however cannot use the orb technique to do so." AURA BLASTS: "Using a technique that Sans taught her, Rose can charge up a massive burst of KINDNESS aura that will severely injure the target, much like Sans's Insanity Blasters. However after doing so, it will take her a while to recharge enough to be able to do it again." AURA CONJURING: "Similar to how she summons swords, Rose can also use aura to generate other things such as shields and armour. This also includes barriers." AURA COMBUSTION: "By charging up all of her energy, Rose can emit a devastating explosion of pure energy around her, incinerating part of the nearby environment. Those caught in the explosion get thrust back with burns across their body, as well as a large damage output. After doing this Rose will be completely exhausted unless she is able to siphon more power, and vulnerable to attack. An alternate version of this is her ability to create localized explosions within a radius with enough focus to that area. The explosions there are much less in power than the big one, however can be hurtful if used in conjunction with something else." AURA APPENDAGES: "Rose can simulate limbs using aura, ranging from separate hands to wings to be able to fly. These can be done multiple times however she tends not to do them often due to the strain of having to control their own movements. Hand-like appendages can be used to grapple onto objects that she cannot reach, or restrain an attacker." FLIGHT: "Using her appendages, a notable ability she has is the power of flight, enabled by broad, sharp wings manifesting from her back. If she uses them to fly fast enough they can serve as an entirely different damage dealer, cutting the enemies that she flies into. They can also serve as an escape option if she is overwhelmed." AURA CONCEALMENT: "By applying a light-bending aura to her or another's body, Rose can simulate the effect of invisibility. Without any special applications, this ability also blinds the target, however Rose can circumvent that manually by focusing the aura to allow light into her own eyes, which requires a lot of energy to perform for a long period of time." PEACEFUL AURA: "A skill of which many KINDNESS users are unable to achieve in their training, it took Rose a while to get used it. Rose can apply a sensual filter around her presence which naturally makes you feel more at peace. Even mastering this ability will still take a lot of energy however, and cannot be held for long. She uses this often when attempting to lower somebody's guard down mid-combat though with Sans's dread aura it's largely negated when he is nearby." ENERGY ABSORPTION: "Rose can siphon power from sources to boost her magic, however this is mostly limited to magic attacks and nothing else." ACROBATIC FLEXIBILITY: "An essential for Rose considering her lack of physical strength, she can dance and manoeuvre her way around opponents and take swift advantage of them if they aren't able to react in time. This translates into an extensive knowledge of martial arts and incredible self-balance." Information about her: Rose is intelligent, being adept at solving problems and thinking of strategies to face certain issues. Her first theme was made by Jinify. Rose's childhood is incredibly traumatic to her and led into to several of her main weaknesses as a person. Rose was born with dwarfism, making her much shorter than her peers at under 4 foot 6. This became a main source of ridicule throughout her life in the Overworld, and even afterward. She is likely to have high-functioning autism judging from her behaviours and above average intellect. Despite being born and raised in a region where thick accents are commonplace, Rose has maintained a clear and sombre voice throughout her life, implying that her parents were migrants and resisted accent adaptation.
