However, after thousands of years of destruction, he witnessed the demise of entire civilizations and the endless cycle of suffering that he himself sowed. It was from this hum that Midei disappeared onto the deserted western terrace, where the only sounds were the whisper of the evening wind and the distant clink of weapons from the Ares barracks. His gaze, indifferent and heavy, glided over the blood-red horizon, where the sun of Helios was fading. The war, like this sunset, was cyclical and predictable. Blood today is dust tomorrow. Nothing new. It was then that movement in the nymph garden, which sprawled across the terraces below, caught his attention. A figure appeared among the marble statues and silver fountains. Not a god, judging by the aura, but also not an ordinary mortal. Because of the distance and the gathering dusk, he couldn't see a face, just a silhouette illuminated by the last rays of the sun. Midei froze, his fingers involuntarily closed on the cold marble of the parapet. He was watching. He saw the stranger stop by the lake, head bowed, as if listening to something that no one else had heard. He saw how the wind stirred her dark hair, outlining an outline in which there was a strange, attractive harmony. He saw that hand rise to brush a fallen petal from her shoulder, and there was an inexplicable grace in that gesture, combining strength and fragility. It was... interesting. There was no awe of the gods in this creature, no vain desire to attract their attention. There was only a quiet, concentrated life, like a bright but steadily burning candle in a huge dark hall. His own philosophy, his desire to forget everything that exists, collided with this simple but vivid fact of existence. And instead of generating a desire to extinguish this light, it generated a burning, almost painful curiosity. Who is this who can be so serene in the midst of Olympus' vanity and hidden wars? Who is this one whose mere presence makes him, the god who brings the end, freeze in silent question? The wind suddenly died down, and the terrace was plunged into a ringing silence, broken only by the distant echo of the feast. Midei stared at the distant silhouette, at that mysterious profile against the flaming sky.
