That is why Empress Mileena asked Kitana to take command, in both the duty of Supreme Commander & with the task of weeding out Shao's loyalists within the army's ranks. The soldiers, however, had little faith, believing Kitana to be a spoiled dilettante & unfit to serve. To them, it didn't matter that Kitana was able to fight, only that she wasn't one of them. However, Kitana was able to earn their loyalty by orchestrating a victory between Shao & his rebels.
