However, he never inherited Jega's bloodlust, never liked his sadism. He joined the Covenant late because Jega wanted to hone him, hone his skills. As a Sangheili Minor, Dreg's first battle was a bloodbath, every single soldier dying, UNSC and Covenant... all except for him... and he didn't fire his weapon once. He thought the war with the Humans to be pointless, foolish, He'd never seen any proof of their heresy. One night, he received an encrypted video recording, the video showing the Prophets planning the Great Schism, planning to replace the Elites with the brutes as the Prophets royal guard. He didn't believe it at first, but on his next mission, he wounded two marines, watching them crawl away from him, hearing their screams and cries, and he couldn't do it, he couldn't kill them. That was when, the leader of the assault showed up, Okro 'Vagaduun. He ordered Drega to kill the marines, but he refused. After facing Blade Master Okro 'Vagaduun in battle, only surviving and winning because of the marines, which later passed away. He fled the planet and began raided Covenant prisons and freed/hired fellow heretics or mercs that shared his hate for the covenant, creating the Dissented, a rebel faction. As of now, in the year 2545 (7 years before the destruction of Reach) He's been gathering strength and numbers for a couple months, finally acquiring a small fleet of mercenary ships and hijacking a large Covenant fleet to actually begin his crusade against the Covenant. Starting with intervening in the Covenant assault of a UNSC planet in the Draco system. They sent previously stolen Covenant Phantoms into the ongoing space battle in the planet's orbit to land on the two Covenant flagships, sending in Elite squads to place explosives in the ship's reactors, blowing them to hell. While the Covenant were being shredded by the UNSC in the front, they flanked them and crushed the remaining Covies, sending comms to the UNSC for a ceasefire. The few UNSC ships were now led by a low ranking captain, who didn't put up much of a fight against letting Drega assist in fending off the covenant on-world, despite it being a direct break in protocol. Drega led a army of 343 Elites, 623 Jackals, 35 Hunter Colonies and 4,000 Grunts in the protection of the Planet's capital city, New Metel'. In a glorious victory of 6 civilian casualties and only 53 Soldier fatalities, Drega wiped the Covenant from the planet. The Success however, was short lived when Drega's fleet intercepted comms of a massive Covenant fleet approaching, with plans of just glassing the planet outright. With the space battle destroying most of the UNSC's Navy, and the planet being relatively small, only a population of 582 million, Drega was in control. He made the decision to peacefully fuse the remaining UNSC with his faction and evacuate every human on the planet. Before leaving, however, they rigged local asteroid clusters with small drones designed to make latch onto incoming ships and find a way inside, stealthily finding VIPs and important ship organs, and detonating with a kill radius of 24 meters. They fled the solar system, now heading back to their home base, the Planet, Orgonyx. It should only take a few days to get there, the Dissented now having humans in their ranks. Drega makes the rules, his word is law. He does not take orders from anyone in the Dissented. Drega sets harsh punishments for horrible criminals like rapists, murderers, pedophiles, etc. Drega teaches his men to respect, love and look out for each other. He doesn't tolerate racism or discrimination between species. He would die for his men, for when the game is over, both the pawn and the queen go in the same box.
