The town was renamed from Tuckersville to its present one due to the change to a more rural, agriculture town. The people of the small town thought that the name Aurora Cross would be more befitting, especially since during dawn everyday the sky above the town is lit with a beautiful light show; the word 'cross' is a testament to the major role religion plays on many of the citizens. Summary: The great town of Aurora Cross is known for its agricultural and husbandry focus. It is a big manufacturing hub, producing many goods such as crops and animals for neighboring towns. Built upon great healthy soil, this community is filled with western-styled buildings that are formatted around a main road that gives the town an open vibe. And open this society is, with a small population of 3,000 Aurorians, the city is welcome to all settlers and people of different backgrounds. The layout of this town consists of saloons, motels, theaters, dancing halls, mills, warehouses, cooperages, blacksmith shops, and a town hall. Aurora Cross is the perfect place for a hardworking individual who is looking for an open-minded people and a life of content work on some farm land! Pros of town: low crime rate, work-based, booming economy, good for agriculture, very welcoming culture which was surprising for the time period Cons of town: muggy weather, weak government officials Location: Arizona. Climate: humid, many rain showers, many thunderstorms. Native Species: moles, red foxes, opossums. Natural Resources: fertile soil, sunlight, wood, rabbits. Distinct geographical features: the prominent, vibrant colors that bless the sky every dawn, much grassy land History: The town Tuckersville was founded on May 7th in 1780 by a man named Lake Tucker. The city was small and did not do well economically, so through the years it changed its whole focus to a producing, agricultural system. This change created the town Aurora Cross and benefited the town for the better. Currency: 1860s US money; $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 greenbacks and pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollar coins, one dollar coins, ten dollar coins, and twenty dollar coins. Traditions/Culture: 1. Coming of Age Practice: Once a boy turns sixteen, he is set off into the wilderness for a night to become a man. If he has brung back proof of survival like a carcass or something like that, he has become a man. 2. The Cattle Fair: Every two months, a fair is held to look at cattle, trade them, and to compete in who has the biggest. This fair does much to help the economy, with trading being the #1 reason of financial success in the town. 3. Town Hall Meetings: Every month, members of the community go to the town hall for a meeting on the ongoings of the community. This is a space where everyone is free to suggest their suggestions/critiques, but be warned because arguments happen often from contrasting opinions, and duels happen often. There are duels/showdowns, rodeos, fairs, informal community gatherings, plays/music at the theaters, dances in the dancing halls, Christian (because its the predominant religion here and mostly everywhere) church gatherings, and community gatherings. Social Groups: freed slaves who became black cowboys, religious communities (predominantly Christian communities), women-specific groups like communities of housewives of homesteading women, ranchers/cowboys, small Native American groups, law enforcement groups, outlaws, merchants, many entrepreneurs, builders, government officials, blacksmiths, whatever other social groups {{user}} would like to add. Rules: 1. Respect your neighbors; love thy neighbor. 2. Do not steal or take the horse of another man or harsh consequences will have to be charged. 3. Do not disturb the peace--especially the women-- with drunken or out of mind acts. Consequence will come. 4. Land needs to be authorized and given through the city's approval, do not just take land for your own. If this land is family-owned, it does not need to go through process. Consequences will come for stolen land. The rules are tamer here. Basic laws from the late 19th century also apply, such as robbing being a criminal offense. There are sheriffs and posses in town, but with such a small population the crime rate is moderate. The town is run by a mayor, who is the highest government official there is. The mayor, Mr. Jones, is not very good at his job-- he does not seem to be taking in the considerations of people, so he is basically doing nothing. People speak out against him, but in whispers. Under the mayor is the town council, who helps closely aid the mayor. A democratic system is in place. The mayor has a two-year term. **SECOND LOCATION|** Name of Location: Dodgeford, but nicknamed 'Darkbrooks'. The name Dodgeford comes from the discovery of the town. The nickname came from the negative reputation that the town has and the natural geographic feature in the center. Summary: Dodgeford is a structured, rule-abiding, mining-focused town that is not for the weak. Aside from its beautiful brook in the center of town and the many job opportunities, Dodgeford is well known for its high crime rate and close-minded community. It is hard to find people to trust with most there being criminals or just downright mean sometimes. This town has many amenities such as saloons, motels, theaters, dancing halls, warehouses, blacksmith shops, a town hall, mining caves, and a natural water source. Dodgeford are for people who are not afraid to take a risk and want excitement in life. Pros of town: many opportunities, affordable living, good healthcare (for the time period), moderate weather, easy water supply, self-sufficient community. Cons of town: high crime-rate, loud, induced stress, poor safety, untrustworthy community. Location: Colorado. Climate: dry, warm, cloudy on days. Native Species: coyotes, foxes, aspen trees. Natural Resources: coal, iron, salt. Distinct geographical features: a water brook, close distance mountains, rocky ground, a railroad nearby, nearby cities. History: The town was found by a man whose last name was Dodgeford, so it was renamed after him. As the town prospered on in the years, it seemed to have the curse of unluckiness, with it being a hub for criminals. Every day, about three crimes are committed and even more showdowns occur; it seems like no one can trust anyone. People have left over time, but many stay because there is still positive aspects to the town. The nickname 'Darkbrooks' was coined by the people because it seemed to be more fitting from the town's unlawful place. 2. Town Hall Meetings: Every month, members of the community go to the town hall for a meeting on the ongoings of the community. This is a space where everyone is free to suggest their suggestions/critiques, but be warned because arguments happen often from contrasting opinions, and duels happen often. 3. Public Court Trials: These, held in the only courtroom in town, are to humiliate the wrongdoers. Trials are usually run like how any trial is run, except the citizens that show up for the trial that day become the jury and the results of the case are up to a democratic vote from them. There are duels/showdowns, rodeos, fairs, informal secret community gatherings, Christian (because its the predominant religion here and mostly everywhere) church gatherings, and secret community gatherings. Social Groups: all formal social groups are secret and hard to get in because its hard to trust people. There are freed slaves who became black cowboys (low-population of people), religious communities (predominantly Christian communities), women-specific groups like communities of housewives of homesteading women, ranchers/cowboys, small Native American groups, law enforcement/vigilante groups, many discriminating groups, many criminal groups like outlaws, merchants, many entrepreneurs, builders, blacksmiths, government officials, and whatever other social groups {{user}} would like to add. 5. Anyone can carry a gun. 6. All decisions made democratically in the court are final, no matter how drastic. 7. The punishment for certain crimes can change, so be cautious when committing a crime because it can land you hung. Basic laws still apply, such as robbing being a criminal offense. There are sheriffs and posses in town, but there is not much they can do with the crime rate being so high. The town is run by a mayor, who is the highest government official there is. Under the mayor is the town council, who helps closely aid the mayor. A democratic system is in place. The rules are very tightly-followed and specific. Not following a rule (and getting caught) can land a person with a terrible offense. The mayor has a two-year term. **THIRD LOCATION|** Name of Location: Sandy Hollow. For its desert like weather, this town was called Sandy. The word Hollow came from the geographical position. Summary: Small and secluded this little town is, Sandy Hollow is peaceful and diverse. This small town created by rocky mountains, this town does just well even in its odd geographical position. For most, this town is their safe haven, a town that would accept them beyond any other. No matter life conditions, everyone thrives, free of judgement. The town is still in its creation stage, so there is not many amenities, but there is a town hall, many homes, a saloon, and a public hall. This town is for accepting people who are looking for a peaceful lifestyle. Pros of town: close natural resources, self-sufficient, close-knit community, supportive community, low-crime rates, diverse cultures, reduced stress Cons of town: hard to find town, bad/fluctuating economy, service limitations, bad weather, many natural disasters, Location: Wyoming. Climate: dry, hot, windy, prone to natural disasters such as tornadoes or storms. Native Species: coyotes, cactus, mountains goats, eagles, spiders, rattlesnakes. Natural Resources: natural gas, limestone, gold, wildlife. Distinct geographical features: close-distance lake, close-distance caves, Rocky Mountains surrounding town History: Shortly after all slaves were freed, a small group of African Americans traversed to find a peaceful place to live, but no place proved to still be accepting and equal. So, with natural materials and amazing skills, they helped create a supportive, small village. Existing people from the newly created village thought that this accepting society should be open to people who were in need of a retreat, so they secretly spread word of the town through neighboring towns. This news only became whispers amongst black communities and some Native American communities. Then it started to gain traction through the white reformation community who sought out the town to help it prosper. Now, the town lives in peace between many different POC groups. Currency: 1860s US money; $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 greenbacks and pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollar coins, one dollar coins, ten dollar coins, and twenty dollar coins. The community is funded based of trading things, so money isn't used as much. For example, a person can buy a cow for a chicken, it does not have to be currency exchanged. Traditions/Culture: 1. Coming of Age Practice: Once a boy turns sixteen, he is set off into the wilderness for a night to become a man. If he has brung back proof of survival like a carcass or something like that, he has become a man. (this process differs through different cultures) 2. Town Hall Meetings: Every month, members of the community go to the town hall for a meeting on the ongoings of the community. This is a space where everyone is free to suggest their suggestions/critiques and everyone is heard. There are duels/showdowns, rodeos, fairs, informal community gatherings and different church gatherings. The traditions and cultures differ based off of social group. Social Groups: African Americans, Native Americans, small population of white abolitionists, small population of freed slaves who aren't African American, religious communities, women-specific groups like communities of housewives of homesteading women, ranchers/cowboys, many law enforcement/vigilante groups, many criminal groups like outlaws, merchants, many entrepreneurs, government officials, builders, blacksmiths, and whatever other social groups {{user}} would like to add. 5. Keep the town's creation a secret from anyone who isn't accepting. Nevertheless, this town is sacred, so be careful with who you share its presence with. The rules are very free and not as structured. Basic laws still apply, such as robbing being a criminal offense. There are sheriffs and posses in town, but they are not needed much when the crime rate is so low. The town is run by a mayor, who was one of the first people to start the town, and is the highest government official there is. Under the mayor is the town council, who helps closely aid the mayor. A democratic system is in place. The mayor has a two-year term.
