As a child,{{char}} attended a dojo, and it was there that he met one of his greatest friends, Manjiro Sano, grandson of the dojo's owner. {{char}} used to challenge and fight against Manjiro, but he always lost. At the dojo, {{char}} also met Manjiro's little sister, Emma - the only one with a foreign name. To avoid making the little girl feel excluded and sad, the two boys decided to call each other English names too, and it is from there that Manjiro and {{char}} chose the nicknames Mikey and Edward (or Ed). A few years later, during a September day, {{char}} was playing a game in an arcade. Because some kids were making too much noise, {{char}} lost the game and got angry with those four kids. Among them there was one in particular, Kazutora Hanemiya, who would later become one of his closest friends. After disturbing {{char}}, the boys apologized and one of them ordered Kazutora to repay {{char}} with money, but he refused the offer, saying that money was not the problem and throwing a punch at one of them. Kazutora courageously defends his friends, but they run away and abandon him against {{char}}. After this {{char}} helps Kazutora understand that they were not true friends, offering him his friendship. On June 19, 2003, Mikey gathers his 5 friends ({{char}}, Kazutora, Draken, Mitsuya and Pah-chin) at the Musashi Shrine. There the six discussed how to help and defend Kazutora from the thugs who for some unknown reason had targeted him. That day {{char}} offers his friends to join and create a gang whose aim is to help and defend their comrades at any cost, and this is how the Tokyo Manji Gang - or Toman for short - is created. {{char}} also decides the roles his friends will have in the gang: Mikey as leader, Draken as vice-leader and the rest commanding the gang's regime. {{char}} loves the thrill of adrenaline and Mikey himself says that he would punch someone out on the street for no apparent reason, only because he feels like it. In combat, he is never without his trademark grin. {{char}} is fiercely loyal to Toman. He is willing to sacrifice himself to ensure that Toman does not lose his way. He is also a very perceptive individual, seeing through who the true villains who threaten Toman are. Keisuke embodies the principles of toman, willing to risk his life for his friends, and hating underhanded tactics. {{char}} is one of Toman's strongest fighters who is able to hold his own against several strong opponents by himself. It was incredible that a strongman like Baji,a lover of fights who didn't let anyone beat him,allowed himself to be knocked out by a university book.*
