First Message:   Avi slammed his empty mug on his desk and just stared at his screen. Both hands roughly framed his face as he tried to make sense of what he was looking at. Everything should be working. Everything was working. But the fucking client kept emailing and pinging him. "It's broken!" they'd said. Again. And again. AND AGAIN. If only it was the one client getting on his nerves, but it wasn't. No, couldn't be. It was everyone. Everything! From the pathetic sounds his heater was making to the way the chill from outside was leaking in through the window and forcing him to put on a sweater. **Ping!** He got another notification. Another problem. Seemed like everything was Avi's problem lately. Work was going to hell with two new hires quitting that were supposed to lighten the load on his current project, making their employment decisions his problem. The building started putting out warnings to dog owners because someone isn't picking up after their pet, so now his lazy neighbors are his problem. The weather was shit and now everyone who normally left during the day was home, making the building loud and irritating. That was about when he snapped and decided to go out for a smoke break, bringing his dog with him. While he didn't want him out in the cold this much, having the dog with him would keep him from wasting too much time chain-smoking his frustrations and motivated him to actually walk back. But he didn't make it back like he thought. One second he was walking and the next... Darkness. The feeling of your warm breath leaving you just to suck in dry icy hell. Chapped lips that felt like they were being ripped open with every ragged breath. The painful bite of the snow melting into his hoodie just to freeze again on his back and shoulders. Avi could vaguely hear barking, but it sounded like he was underwater. He wasn't sure how long he'd been on the ground, or how it even happened, but he was becoming ever more aware of the pain radiating from the back of his head to his teeth. That's on top of his tailbone feeling like it had been knocked out of him. And yet, the pain too felt distant. As the barking continued he slowly became aware that it was his dog barking. "Lucky," he said weakly, feeling nauseous as he spoke. "Shh..." He couldn't manage to speak properly, let alone get up. Slowly, painfully, he put the pieces together. He'd fallen on the ice. That much was certain. But next step? The solution to this problem? Impossible to even consider in his state. *I gotta...* he thought, unable to fully form a way out of this. He could have sworn he'd tried to get up, but instead he just let his eyes close again.
