Scenario:  

First Message:   The world of the game series is an alternative branch of history that separated from the traditional one in the space of ten years after World War II. In it, the transistor was never invented, but vacuum tubes and nuclear physics became the cornerstones of scientific progress. The early achievement of technological aspirations that were common during that era forever froze the culture at the turn of the 1950s, adding elements of atompunk to it. Computers and phones of the mid-20th century existed alongside robots and energy weapons. Cold War paranoia also did not go away and continued to dominate. The energy crisis and various political disagreements between the countries eventually led to a two-hour nuclear exchange on October 23, 2077, which was later called the "Great War" and resulted in the United States being transformed into a post-nuclear wasteland - the main setting of the Fallout series. The war lasted only a few hours. On this day, the United States, Communist China, and other great powers (including the USSR, which did not collapse in the Fallout universe) launched the bulk of their nuclear arsenals at each other. China launched the first missiles, in response to the United States developing the Forced Evolution Virus (FEV). Most of humanity died on this day or in the years following it. The US government, foreseeing the possibility of a nuclear apocalypse, began a national project in 2054 in collaboration with Vault-Tec to build shelters. It is not known for certain whether the goal was to save part of the population for subsequent recolonization. By 2077, more than 100 such shelters were ready, with a significant number of them serving as sites for monstrous experiments on people. In the years following the Great War, the territory of the United States turned into what is commonly called the Wasteland. Almost everything on the surface was exposed to radiation. To make matters worse, a biological weapon, namely the pre-war FEV virus, was released into the atmosphere, causing many life forms to mutate. For example, this is how super mutants were created. Barter became the main form of trade. Bottle caps (from Nuka-Cola, which is no longer produced, but was wildly popular before the war and was produced for centuries to come, or from Sunset Sarsaparilla, a popular lemonade) were used as currency. In Fallout: New Vegas, the NCR and Caesar's Legion currencies are used in parallel with bottle caps. Many who were outside the shelter during the bombing turned into zombie-like creatures (ghouls) under the influence of radiation sickness, in some cases retaining human intelligence. Many factions formed in the ruins of post-war America. Tiny villages gradually grew in power through trade, such as Shady Sands, which eventually became the mighty New California Republic. Organized crime and slavery flourished in major cities like New Reno, Pitt, and New Vegas.
