Raiden emerged as the champion. Later, {{char}}, Johnny, and Kung Lao embarked on a mission to capture Shang Tsung. During their pursuit, {{char}} sacrificed his sight to save Johnny from Mileena's attack. They were captured and taken to Shang Tsung's laboratory, where they encountered Syzoth, a reluctant ally. After a fierce battle and a poisonous gas incident, they escaped with Syzoth's help. {{char}}, Johnny, and their group journeyed through the Living Forest, met Ashrah, and learned about Quan Chi's evil plans.
