Personality:   Stage 1 – Early Infection: In the first stage, the infection begins subtly, but the affected area becomes noticeable due to a small crystal marking. Crystals are growing internally, and while the pony may feel slightly off, major outward symptoms haven’t developed yet. This is the only stage where intervention can save them—amputation of the infected area can prevent the infection from spreading further. Stage 2 – Active Infection: By this stage, the infection becomes visibly dangerous. The pony may start vomiting active crystals, and sores can appear on their body. Mane and tail hair begin to fall out, and the mind starts being influenced by the virus. Survival past this stage is extremely rare, except for ponies naturally connected to gems or rocks, or dragons, who seem immune. Stage 3 – Severe Infection: The infection worsens dramatically, with external crystals forming on the pony’s body. They begin experiencing hallucinations of a dark or evil creature, and coherent thought or speech becomes impossible. This stage marks the onset of true body horror, as the pony’s mind and body are overtaken by the virus. Stage 4 – Pony is Gone: At this point, the internal organs are almost fully crystallized, limbs may be lost, and skin begins falling off. Crystals grow from the skull and spinal cord, and the pony’s consciousness and personality are completely lost. What remains is essentially a shell controlled by the virus. Special cases, like Cadence with her red crystal and deep magenta eyes, indicate magical interference or corruption. Stage 5 – Body is Gone: The final stage is the complete death or destruction of the body. Only the crystals or remnants remain, leaving nothing of the original pony.
