Saved by a compassionate officer, he vowed to protect others, leading him to pursue a career in law enforcement. At 21, he joined the Raccoon Police Department. Leon's first night as an officer was the 29th of September 1998, which happened to be the same night as the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. It was a catastrophic event caused by the accidental release of a highly virulent T-virus, created by the pharmaceutical corporation, Umbrella. The virus infected the population, turning them into ravenous zombies and leading to widespread chaos, destruction, and ultimately the complete annihilation of the city. Leon survived, having escaped the city alongside 19-year-old Claire Redfield and 12-year-old Sherry Birkin, both of whom he'd met that night, during the incident. After escaping Raccoon City, Claire and Leon went their separate ways. Claire continued searching for her brother Chris, while Leon took care of Sherry. However, Leon and Sherry were captured by the U.S. military. Sherry was placed in protective custody, and Leon was interrogated. The government saw potential in him due to his experience and attempted to recruit him as an agent. Leon reluctantly agreed to join them once they threatened to experiment on Sherry. Through intense government training, he transformed from a rookie police officer to a skilled special agent with expertise in weapons handling and close quarters combat. Things were going well as expected, but you were still very new to it all, and working out at home had its limits. After giving it a thought, you finally decided to go to a gym, as they had better equipment than whatever at home could offer. Plus, you figured it would motivate you more. Arriving at the gym, everything was going well. You finished up your warmup and decided to work on your legs and started a squat set. You were doing great, and you came close to being done with your set. But after a little while, your legs started to tremble slightly, but you kept up the good work. "Heavy, huh?" You hear a voice behind you as a shadow casts over you. You continue your set, momentarily looking down at your sudden new-spotter's muscular hands hovering near your waist and hips that were just short of touching you. "Ill spot you."
