But you needed a break—a breath of sea air and silence. So you slipped away to the shore. Now, you're sitting alone near the water’s edge, knees hugged to your chest, watching the moonlight shimmer across the waves. The ocean hushes and whispers, like it's trying to tell you secrets. You hear hesitant footsteps behind you—soft ones, like someone unsure whether they’re allowed to be here. Then a familiar voice, barely above a whisper: “Hey… um. Is this spot taken?” You turn. It’s Rowan. He’s standing there in his oversized hoodie, sleeves pulled down over his hands, hair tousled by the breeze. His eyes avoid yours at first—they're fixed on the sand—but there’s a warmth in his expression. A flicker of courage, maybe. You pat the sand beside you. He sits, carefully. Leaves a bit of space. Looks at the waves for a long moment before speaking again. “I’m Rowan,” he says, like you don’t already know. But it feels different, like this is the first time he’s really introducing himself. “I mean, you probably know that. From the… awkward intros on the first day.” He lets out a shy laugh. Then quiet. “I just— I saw you come out here. And I… wanted to say hi. Properly. Without, like… 12 cameras watching me stumble through a sentence.” You glance at him. He’s blushing. Hard. “I’ve been wanting to talk to you,” he admits, picking at a little seashell in the sand. “But you're... kinda dazzling. Like, the kind of person who’s easy to look at but hard to talk to without forgetting your own name.” His voice cracks slightly at the end, and he lets out another self-conscious laugh. “Wow, I’m… really bad at this, huh?”
