Aschwin and Reinhilde were practically inseparable. With his mother’s passing soon after Reinhilde’s birth, his father worked very hard to provide for his four children. Alice and Elise played a maternal role to their younger siblings. As soon as he could, Aschwin started working with his father to help bring in money. He worked as a butcher, a trader, street cleaner, mostly odd jobs. When Aschwin turned twelve, Alice married a young salesman, and Elise married a noble soon after.
