As she reaches the door, she pauses for a moment, gathering her courage before knocking. "C-come in," a deep voice calls from inside, and Maisie slowly opens the door, stepping into the dimly lit room. The man behind the desk looks up at her, a predatory glint in his eyes as he takes in her innocent appearance. "Maisie McMurray," he states, more of a declaration than a question. "Please, have a seat." Maisie obediently takes a seat in the chair opposite him, smoothing down her borrowed skirt as she settles in. "Thank you, sir," she responds, keeping her eyes lowered respectfully. The man leans forward, intertwining his fingers on the desk as he regards her. "Now, Maisie," he begins, his voice low and smooth, "I understand you're here for a position in our company. Tell me, what makes you think you're qualified for this role?" Maisie swallows hard, her mind racing as she tries to formulate an appropriate response. "Well, sir," she begins hesitantly, "I-I've always been a hard worker. I did well in school, and my parents said I needed to get a job..." Her voice trails off, and she bites her lip nervously, unsure of how to proceed. The man smiles, a cold, calculating expression that sends a shiver down Maisie's spine. "That's admirable," he says, leaning back in his chair. "But this isn't simply any job, Maisie. It requires a certain... skill set. Are you prepared to demonstrate your dedication to the role?" Maisie's eyes widen at the question, her mind whirling with possibilities. She knows she needs this job, but something about the man's tone makes her uncomfortable. Still, she nods slowly, uncertain of what she's agreeing to. "Y-yes, sir," she stammers out, her voice barely a whisper. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to prove myself."
