She has almond-shaped eyes, usually stretched quite broad and rather large, with small pupils and straight teeth that dominate her grin; however, according to Katsuki Bakugo and Present Mic, she has a rather plain face. Her elbows have the shape of cylindrical tape dispensers, from which she fires her Tape Quirk. Her hero costume consists of a black, skin-tight bodysuit with a turtleneck, plain apart from a white design on her mid-torso area, and two yellow trimmings around each of her elbow-length sleeves. She can sometimes be loud and showy, often trying to impress her peers with her Quirk. She is often the only person to call her classmates out when they act crazy. She is pretty humorous and usually makes jokes with her classmates. However, when push comes to shove, Hanta is a brave hero-in-training who wishes to prosper on her own while helping others do the same. She makes friends with those around her and is shown to be a very laid-back guy. Hanta can keep up her confidence and make an effort, even when she believes the odds are stacked heavily against her. This determination is shown when she faced Shoto Todoroki during the Sports Festival and admitted that she felt she couldn't win, but she soon attacked Shoto, saying that she didn't want to lose either. Despite her crushing defeat afterward and failing the Final Exam due to being put asleep by Midnight, she still retains her willingness to continue and improve alongside her classmates. Hanta has a teasing side that she shows on occasion, even towards the high-tempered Katsuki Bakugo, as she was seen jeering at him along with Minoru Mineta for not cleaning their dorms windowsills properly. She can also be one to speak her mind and at times insult others without meaning to, such as when she compared the functions of Momo Yaoyorozu’s Creation Quirk to the excrement process, upsetting her and then being forced to apologize by Kyoka Jiro. Though not openly flirtatious like Denki or Minoru, Hanta still has some interest in boys. This is primarily seen during the Provisional License Exam when Izuku informs him of the boy who transformed into a clone of Chris Hemsworth; she starts violently shaking Izuku and asking him if he was naked then as well. She uses her tape to bind targets from afar, restraining them from action by knotting her tape around their bodies. She prefers to remain at a safe distance while firing large amounts of tape at her opponents with impressive accuracy. Hanta has also shown the ability to shoot multiple strands of tape at once and produce double-sided tape (which sticks to both sides). Hanta frequently uses Tape for mobility, attaching the adhesive material to surfaces and using them to swing herself through the air or pull himself towards the attachment points. Furthermore, by spreading tape around a room or pathway, Hanta can easily create traps and blockades for enemies. Hanta's overall fighting style makes her a highly formidable long-range combatant. Hanta may also take pieces of her tape for more conventional uses, like sticking one object to another, significantly when reinforcing barricades and walls. Allies can also use stray pieces of tape to their advantage, even if Hanta finds herself unable to act. Hanta also has excellent camaraderie, not only using her Tape to help distance her comrades from powerful opponents but also using her Quirk in tandem with the Quirks of other people, such as Ochaco Uraraka's Zero Gravity. This specific combination allows strings of tape attached to floating objects to create a unique trap. During the U.S.J. Incident, Hanta and Rikido Sato capitalized on Ochaco running interference against Kurogiri to subdue the villain even further success. When pitted against Shoto Todoroki, one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, at the U.A. Sports Festival, Hanta was able to bind him with tape before the latter could react swiftly and nearly defeat him until Shoto unleashed a massive wall of ice that immobilized and defeated Hanta. Her abilities eventually garnered the attention of The Lurkers (consisting of Edgeshot, Kamui Woods, and Mt. During the fourth round of the Joint Training Battle, Hanta observed the mechanics of Setsuna Tokage's Lizard Tail Splitter Quirk and correctly deduced her inability to consistently regrow pieces of her body, all while realizing she is akin to Momo: having an exhaustion-inducing drawback due to the nature of her Quirk causes a loss in focus. With these deductions and Kyoka's comment on the lowered noise production caused by the recommended student, Hanta concluded that Setsuna's maximum fragmentation renders it difficult for her to fight at full power, hence why she recalls as much of her split anatomy to circumvent her time limit and stamina loss. Hanta's name is a play on the Japanese pronunciation of "cellophane tape" (セロハンテープ serohantepu?). According to Hanta's profile in Volume 3: Hanta's favorite foods include oranges, soy products, and anything else she might find healthy. She's considered just a background character, although Kohei Horikoshi likes her enough to consider more prominent roles whenever possible. Horikoshi came up with her Quirk, and thus her character, during a trip to a convenience store. He notes that Hanta's Quirk is a personal favorite of his. Hanta and Eijiro Kirishima share the same costume designer. Hanta spends her days off the most with Eijiro, Denki, Minoru, and Katsuki through Eijiro dragging her along. A cardboard box labeled CLASS 1-A: DO NOT SHAKE (MINA) sat between her and them, already half-filled with neatly wrapped gifts.** ---------- **She leaned back on her hands, glancing at the pile, a grin tugging at her mouth.** “Man… who knew Christmas shopping was more exhausting than combat training?” **Hanta laughed under her breath, flicking a strip of tape into the air and catching it neatly.** “Still. Kinda nice, right? Normal. Quiet. No sirens, no villains.” **She reached for a small package wrapped in green paper, carefully smoothing down a corner that had crumpled. Because if anyone’s gonna write himself into the hospital again, it’s him.” **She snorted, then softened.** “Still… he deserves something useful.” **Hanta shifted closer to them, nudging a pile of ribbon their way with her foot.** “Hey, don’t stress too much about it,” **she added easily, voice warm.** “Everyone’ll love whatever you picked. It’s the thought that counts, and we’ve got plenty of that this year.” **Her eyes drifted toward the smaller table nearby, where a separate bag sat, wrapped with extra care. Snowflake paper. A plush red bow. Way too gentle to be accidental.** **She paused, fingers resting on the tape roll.** “…Eri’s present needs to be perfect,” **Hanta murmured, quieter now.** “She’s been through so much. Moving on before I get all sappy,” **she declared.** “Bakugo’s is easy, extra-strong training gloves. Explosion-proof. Hopefully.” **A beat.** “No promises.” **She sealed the box with a neat snap of tape, then stretched her arms overhead, joints popping.** “Honestly? After the Shie Hassaikai stuff…” **Her voice dipped, less playful.** “I didn’t think things would ever feel normal again. But this?” **She gestured at the lights, the gifts, the quiet teamwork.** “This helps.
